El iPhone es, sin dudas, uno de los dispositivos móviles que más utilizados para navegar en la web, debido a sus características especiales con respecto a otros gadgets. De hecho, Google reporta una búsqueda 50 veces mayor desde el iPhone que desde cualquier otro dispositivo móvil.

Es por eso que desde el Futurosity, reseñan una herramientas para hacer los blogs de Wordpress más amigables al gadget de la manzana.

El iWPhone, es un plugin con tema incluido, que detecta automáticamente al visitante que utiliza iPhone o iPod Touch y les muestra una versión liviana, a una resolución 480×320 pixels, optimizada para tales aparatos.

La desventaja que tiene, es que el tema en cuestión puede no ir en la línea del diseño del blog original, pero es personalizable como cualquier otro.

Una gran herramienta, que poco a poco se volverá estándar, pues aumentarán los usuarios del iPhone y el iPod Touch. Seguiremos su evolución.

What does that tell ya about Google? Mixed reaction?

Plus que ces performances, qui me semblent plutôt honorables, c'est surtout l'écart entre les prévisions des analystes et les résultats effectifs que sanctionne le marché. L'action de Google a en effet enregistré une baisse de 12% pour se retrouver à son niveau le plus bas depuis 3 mois.

Si la morosité économique générale est l'un des principaux facteurs avancés, le ralentissement considérable de l'augmentation des dépenses publicitaires en ligne joue également un rôle non négligeable. A cela s'ajoutent des frais plus importants que lors de la période précédente, une situation principalement due aux frais juridiques engendrés par le différent avec Viacom et l'augmentation des investissements dans le R&D.

En soi, la situation n'a donc rien d'alarmant pour Google. Toutefois, dans cette période économiquement trouble, décevoir les analystes et les investisseurs pourrait s'avérer très dangereux. La réussite de Google a été tellement insolante que les faux pas seront de moins en moins bien tolérés. Comme pour Federer...

When Google first announced the Open Handset Alliance to bring it's Android-based mobile phone platform to phones from multiple handset makers, there was a lot of excitement about the open platform and what it could mean for the industry.

But for the last few months updated builds of the SDK stopped being released...or did they?

In a note intended for the 50 winners of Google's Android Developer Challenge but accidentally sent to a larger list of developers, Google's David McLaughlin implied that updated builds HAVE been coming out, but only to the winners and not to the development at large.

One Android developer who read the note commented in the Android forum "ahhhh, now it makes sense...so they've been making private SDK releases while the rest of us suffer with the pile of bugs from the 4+ month old release."

Google later confirmed that it was, in fact, doing this but only to help test the SDK so that it could release an updated version to the rest of the world in the coming weeks.

Whatever Google's reason for the Android SDK in this way, they should really be careful--the iPhone SDK has already begun luring developers away from Android and more are likely to follow. Google might want to consider making the open platform a bit more open.

Om's talked about Gmail sucking, but this is a bigger threat to productivity, since at some point it will drive me insane and I'll take everyone with me.

Does it have to be such an unpleasant, angry, sound? Especially since it repeats the noise until you switch windows and read the damn message? A jackhammer would be less obnoxious. And the only option in the settings menu is to turn the sound off, which really isn't helpful when someone is trying to urgently reach you.

Why not a few options, Google? I don't need the sound of puppies making rainbows or bunny rabbits blowing kisses, but there has to be a less harsh noise than the one you dumped into such an important communication tool for the modern worker. Heck, you could even slip in the biddy-biddy sound from 411-GOOG.

TechCrunch wrote a post the other day on "The Future of Search," which includes a video walk-through of some of the search features with which Google is apparently experimenting. The highlight of this "experiment" is a layer of social functionality (much like Digg) that Google may add to its standard page of search results.

Basically, this world of search allows users to vote search results up and down, move things to the first page, and comment on individual results. What this means is that Google may be turning to "the wisdom of crowds" to enhance it's world-famous (but ever-mysterious) algorithm. What's more, it appears that users will be able to create rich Google profiles (Facebook, anyone?), which will be visible to other Google users through comments made on specific search results. Could this all be part of Google's master plan to take over the internet? We already know they're getting into virtual worlds. Keep an eye out for new experimental features in Google's ever-active Labs.

Yesterdays top keyword, that led internet users from google to us, was the word "fucking" (most likely because of midmulls review of "young people fucking").

I'm very proud of that fact, but also a little sorry for the 4 poor bastards that did (unexpectedly) not find any bare boobs or butts on this respectable blog - just some occasional strong language (yes we are rated R !).

I've always wondered why Flickr never had that option - and that's one of the main reasons that I uploaded my photos to Google's Picasa instead of Flickr.  (Not that I would have a need to download pictures I uploaded - unless, knock on wood, my computer AND my backup drive both crash!)  The other reason I chose Picasa was that it allowed me to geotag my photos.  This online album allows me to relive a trip that my friends and I took through East Texas in our rented Prius in 2005!

After a few years of using Picasa, Flickr still seems to be hugely dominant, so with this Flickr Downloader program, I MIGHT become a convert...  Except...  How can I abandon Google???  I love Google...  GoogleEarth, GoogleMaps, Google Reader, Sketchup (never thought I'd say I loved this program)...  And I'm starting to like GMail and Google Documents...  But most of all, I love the mashup and collaboration POTENTIAL of their products.

But download Flickr Downloader and YOU, my fellow Google Groupie, can coexist with the Flickr Fanatics.  But Google is still better!

EXCEPT: Overall, WordPress is better than Blogger!

The ever expanding Google has announced that it has signed an agreement with Russian company Rambler Media Group to acquire the online advertising company ZAO Begun for $140 million.

In case you're not familiar with ZAO Begun (I wasn't either), the six-year-old company does search and contextual advertising, currently doing business with 40,000 advertisers and 143,000 Russian-language sites.

Rambler Media Group currently owns most, but not all, of ZAO Begun. As part of the deal, Rambler will buy the rest of ZAO Begun from Bannatyne Ltd., and agree to use Google's AdSense on it's main page.

Sehr interessant und mir bisher gänzlich unbekannt ist die Übersicht über die Anbieter von Videos im Internet. Google liegt hier mit YouTube natürlich weit vorne. Aber interessanterweise sind die TV-Häuser ProSiebenSat.1 und RTL weit vorne dabei - von den öffentlich-rechtlichen Mediatheken ist dagegen nichts zu sehen.

In Gmail è stata sospesa la funzione che memorizzava in automatico tutti gli indirizzi mail della posta che ricevevamo rendendo la nostra rubrica veramente caotica e piena di "spazzatura". Ad esempio ogni volta che ho corrisposto con degli hotel per sapere se avevano posto mi sono ritrovata con i loro indirizzi in rubrica obbligandomi a cancellarli periodicamente.

In Google Docs è possibile scrivere e visualizzare i documenti in modalità fullscreen scegliendo dal menù visualizza "modalità a schermo intero" oppure cliccando ctrl-shift-F .

Sempre in Google Docs è ora possibile ordinare i documenti creati in cartelle.

E' in sperimentazione una nuova pagina di iGoogle che poche persone selezionate stanno testando ma di questo ve ne avevo già parlato,non vedo l'ora di poterla usare :-)

Presto anche Gmail e Google Calendar verranno supportati da Gears quindi,come già prima di loro è stato per Google Readers e Google Docs sarà possibile utilizzarli anche se non siamo collegati ad internet. Nel momento in cui potremo collegarci le variazioni apportate durante il lavoro offline saranno implementate.

In più Gmail supporterà SyncML uno standard di sincronizzazione dati indipendente dalla piattaforma mobile che permette di gestire mail come per il Blackbarry tanto per implementare il telefono più chiacchierato di questi giorni:l'iPhone  8)

Adsense en dergelijke uitvindingen zijn de ziektes van de webwereld geworden. Als je geld wilt verdienen met je website, biedt dan diensten, producten of weet ik veel aan. En adsense is allesbehalve zeggen: "dit heb ik nu verdiend!" want het is Google die met het geld gaat lopen. Zo slim ben je niet. Wie een halt wilt toeroepen aan Google Adsense of aan andere vormen van advertentie en zegt: "nee, mijn site werkt niet mee aan de vervuiling van het WWW en ik beheer de content op mijn website zelf", plaats dan één van de twee logo's op de website.

So, I was reading Wired last night and they had this whole article about the Google Android phone software that Google is putting together. They went on and on how anyone can put together Android gadgets and if they're good they can get paid. Awesome, right?

Well, I have an idea for Android software that I think would be pretty sweet. Problem is, I have no idea how to put it together. do I just write president@google.com and say "Hey man, I got a great idea!" I think not.

Anyways, here's the idea. The program would be called Paranoid. Google wants people to use the GPS services in the phone so that's why I thought of Paranoid. Basically, people with Android software can mark on Google Maps if they're walking around or whatever where they see cameras, hence the name Paranoid.

Eventually all the video cameras and whatnot would be mapped out on Google Maps, along with red-light cameras, so you know if you're being watched. People can even take photos of the cameras on their phones so others, in the same location, caan spot it immediately. Also, those cameras that are broadcast over the Internet you can click on in your phone and see a live feed. You can see yourself, friends, whatever.

Although a little weird, I think this would be a pretty fun application. Anyone want to build it?

Google posted on its Official Google Docs Blog on Wednesday, that they've introduce templates to Google Docs.  I zipped over to my Google Docs to have a look.  It looks like they have quite an extensive library of templates for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.  It's very similar in scope to what's available for Microsoft Office.

Google says they've teamed up with Avery Dennison, Vertex42.com, TemplateZone, and Visa Business to create templates for all aspects of life, job hunting or wedding planning, for example, or running a business with invoices and letter head.

Google Docs is getting better and more feature-rich all the time.  Now that they've added offline access to documents, it's a wonder who will really need to pay Microsoft for office applications.

A "software" like this -which is still a product. Sorry Google, you lied- usually appears as some form of a scam. Unusual to see this type of advertisement from Google. But what was even more unusual was the graphic for this advertisement. As you can see at the bottom of this post, a man and a woman are pictured. The man is working away on his computer (a notion that he is using the product), looking surprisingly fatigued by the strenuous paperwork that required no previous experience. He lays his head back on his lady friend, who is massaging his shoulders from behind. Wait, what? "What" indeed. A woman stands behind the man, accommodating his needs while he works oh so hard on his itty bitty computer. Excuse me, but isn't that a little chauvinist?

Now, I am very proud to be female- a fact I kind of have to be proud of since I was born this way, unless I want to undergo numerous excruciating procedures to become a male. However, I am not a raging feminist with a dyke haircut bitching about the injustices brought upon women. Actually, I think society has come pretty far regarding the social status of women, though typically I do still have a few qualms. Currently, I am much more concerned about the lack of acceptance within our society of non-christian religions -or the non-religious for that matter- and LGBT communities (topics I may address in the future).  But COME ON! This type of advertising is offensive to anyone born with a double x chromosome and maybe even some XY's. Why can't the advertisement show a man AND a woman sublimely working on computers? Or even JUST a man or a woman, singularly, working on the computer? Why does the woman have to be subservient to the male in this advertisement? What does the blonde bimbo rubbing up on the guy have anything to do with the product or software or whatever you want to call it? A huge mistake on Google's part, in my opinion.

The notion that the male is the dominating figure that works hard and brings home the bacon is a delusion that is shrinking and will (hopefully) eventually disappear. Most modern women hold some sort of occupation. The number of women with professional degrees and high-powered careers is growing more and more every day. There are plenty of strong women out there to be role models for future generations. TV shows like Desperate Housewives and The Housewives of Orange County combat this concept. But I guess most of the media thinks that watching bitchy women blow money on purses, getting their hair dyed even blonder, and going to dinner parties just to complain about EVERYTHING is more fascinating than a smart, independent woman climbing to the top of a corporate ladder. It appears that good girls die young as far as show ratings go. Seeing that money makes the world goes round, TV has succumbed to it as a result. And apparently so has Google.

Whether you choose Adsense, Yahoo PPC network, chitika, bidvertiser, and my personal favorite aimed at the South African market Peppor remains up to personal taste.

There is a few tips I would like to offer.

• If your South African, you might want to choose peppor, because it's a South African network, payouts are fast and made directly into your bank account. The drawback is that you get paid in ZAR whereas with the other one's payment are made in US $, where you get to leverage on the rand to dollar exchange rate, to increase you earnings dramatically.
• If you like the idea of getting paid in US $, there's no better network than Google's Adsense. This is the most widely used and most popular network. - The drawbacks being, that you could very easily lose all your earnings due to invalid click impressions, that you aren't even aware of.  You get paid by checque, where there is some waiting time involved.

Out of the many monetizing methods I'll be explaining on this blog, displaying PPC ads is probably one of the best ways to monetize your blog, it's also one of the easiest ways to make money from your blog, with only a small piece of code nesecary to start displaying ads on your website. However as with all monetizing methods there are a few things to consider before starting to display ads.

• It's been shown that displaying ads on your website, has a decremental effect on traffic. Do you receive enough visitors, so that this doesn't affect your blog?
• You won't make thousands of dollars from PPC marketing, there are a few people that do, but it's not likely you'll make that off the start.
• We all know that too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and with so many websites displaying ads, visitors have become immune to most ads. They rarely click on ads these days. Think about it, how many ads do you click on a website?
• There's a lot of advertisers that use LCC's , or MFA's, simply put, this is ads that either pay you very little, or nothing at all. Adsense offers you the opportunity to block out 200 url's but this isn't nearly enough to combat all the MFA's or LCC's.

If you're starting out PPC marketing is one of the least labour intensive ways you can use to monetize your blog, and it certainly get's my vote:)

Segundo a comScore, a Microsoft possúi 6,3% do mercado de mecanismos de busca, contra 71,2% do google (dados de abril/2008). Apesar da força do google, a concorrência está de olho em estratégias inovadoras para atingir um patamar maior com um público-alvo cada dia mais significativo.

A estratégia não é muito comum mas o objetivo é bem interessante: ampliar o interesse do público pelo Live Search.

O funcionamento do programa CashBack da Microsoft trabalha como uma espécie de custo-por-aquisição: quem anuncia especifica quanto está disposto a pagar para conquistar um comprador de um produto e após a efetivação da compra repassa para a Microsoft essa comissão, mas a empresa, ao invés de ficar com o dinheiro transfere esse valor em forma de desconto para os clientes que utilizaram o mecanismo de busca Live Search.

A proposta é ampliar a participação do Live Search no mercado de buscas. O propósito é atingir entre 15% e 20% do market share para que a estratégia seja considerada um sucesso.
