I was a part of a Shakespeare Reading Group at the Local Library and I would like to do something similar with Skype with the ultimate project : All of Shakespeare's Tragedies and Comedies in MP3 Podcast format! I am looking for amateur actors and actresses, 3 actors, 3 actresses, and 1 girl actress who can play a boy as well, to record dialogue for up to 5 characters per person, that can then be e-mailed or mailed to me on a CD so the dialogue can be mixed with the other actors with 1 Act segments that can be downloaded FREE. The Compilation of the Acts can then be burned on to a CD for $5.00 and mailed off with the proceeds of each CD sale sent to the American Red Cross!

Shakespeare can be enjoyed anywhere, using your imagination, the Podcast Theater can entertain and enlighten everyone in this brave new century!

Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum Theatre is bringing out the big guns for the launch of its new season

Edinburgh's Royal Lyceum Theatre is bringing out the big guns for the launch of its new season this September, with a staging of Shakespeare's Macbeth from 12 September - 11 October.

Upon his victorious return from battle, Macbeth (Liam Brennan) is met by three witches who give him a tantalising prophecy for his future – he will acquire great power in his homeland, firstly as Thane of Cawdor and then as King of Scotland.

Alongside his ambitious and scheming wife (Allison McKenzie), their thirst for ultimate power begins to take control, setting the scene for a bloody royal coup. Driven by a fear of losing his new kingdom, Macbeth centres on the building tensions, paranoia and fear that lead to violence and murder...

A co-production with the Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company, Macbeth is directed by Lucy Pitman-Wallace.

Visit the Lyceum website for full details and booking information and to watch the new trailer (see link below).

How much like the Macbeths are the Clintons? Though they switch roles between Lady M and McB himself

How much like the Macbeths are the Clintons? Though they switch roles between Lady M and McB himself, the two seem to be hell-bent on remaining in power and will bring down the Democratic Party in the process if they must.

Note to the Left: Listen, I am not really a Democrat any more than I am a Republican, but this is a moment in history where I think we need to be strategic. If John McCain wins you'd just better pack and move--he's about as centrist as he is psychologically stable. So for all of Obama's flaws, I don't feel like I can afford a McCain presidency. There's not enough Pepto-Bismol in all the world to stomach the disaster that is going to be. But i digress.

Just when I thought it was all over, signs seem to point to the fact that the Clintons may still be hoping to sabotage the Obama candicacy in hopes of a Hilary Clinton ticket in 2012.

In a "non-shock of the week" turn of events, The Atlantic Monthly's September feature story proves that the Clinton Campaign worked really hard to drape themselves in the fabric of American flag-style patriotism, and paint Obama as foreign other who couldn't be trusted (this scoop, combined with me picking up the last two brilliant issues at airports this summer means the mag has won itself a new subscriber in Kenyon Farrow!). Non-shock as it is, The Atlantic has published all the emails/memos on their site proving it (theatlantic.com/clinton), and the story is an interesting timeling of the inner workings of her campaign. Joshua Green writes:

Two things struck me right away. The first was that, outward appearances notwithstanding, the campaign prepared a clear strategy and did considerable planning. It sweated the large themes (Clinton’s late-in-the-game emergence as a blue-collar champion had been the idea all along) and the small details (campaign staffers in Portland, Oregon, kept tabs on Monica Lewinsky, who lived there, to avoid any surprise encounters). The second was the thought: Wow, it was even worse than I’d imagined! The anger and toxic obsessions overwhelmed even the most reserved Beltway wise men. Surprisingly, Clinton herself, when pressed, was her own shrewdest strategist, a role that had never been her strong suit in the White House. But her advisers couldn’t execute strategy; they routinely attacked and undermined each other, and Clinton never forced a resolution. Major decisions would be put off for weeks until suddenly she would erupt, driving her staff to panic and misfire.

But we thought since she lost, she'd concede to get a cushy job in the new administration (though not the VP slot) and leave well enough alone. Maureen Dowd, who undoubetdly despises the Hillary Clinton, wrote in her column yesterday that Hillary and Bill are still planning to use their platforms as major speakers at the Democratic National Convention to set Hillary up as the nominee in 2012, and damage Obama's chances against McCain now.

Hillary feels no guilt about encouraging her supporters to mess up Obama’s big moment, thus undermining his odds of beating John McCain and improving her odds of being the nominee in 2012.

She’s obviously relishing Hillaryworld’s plans to have multiple rallies in Denver, to take out TV and print ads and to hold up signs in the hall that read “Denounce Nobama’s Coronation.”

In a video of a closed California fund-raiser on July 31 that surfaced on YouTube, Hillary was clearly receptive to having her name put in nomination and a roll-call vote.

She said she thought it would be good for party unity if her gals felt “that their voices are heard.” But that’s disingenuous. Hillary was the one who raised the roll-call idea at the end of May with Democrats, who were urging her to face the math. She said she wanted it for Chelsea, oblivious to how such a vote would dim Obama’s star turn. Ever since she stepped aside in June, she’s been telling people privately that there might have to be “a catharsis” at the convention, signaling she wants a Clinton crescendo.

Bill continues to howl at the moon — and any reporters in the vicinity — about Obama; he’s starting to make King Lear look like Ryan Seacrest.

LOL!!! Further proving Dowd's point, Bill Clinton had the fucking nerve to tell ABC News last week that Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC) had purposefully made him look like a racist and ruin Clinton's Negro Pass in the Black Community--a fact which Clyburn categorically denies.

Clinton told ABC News last week that Clyburn “used to be” an old friend of his, but he “was not Hillary’s supporter. Never. Not ever. Not for a day.”

When told that Clyburn had said Clinton damaged his own credibility with the black community, Clinton responded, “That may be by the time he got through working on it, that was probably true.”

Though Clyburn usually operates with the utmost restraint, I think he should tell Bill:

Is evil a disease? Or does evil cause disease? And how do we find this in Shakespeare’s Macbet

Is evil a disease? Or does evil cause disease? And how do we find this in Shakespeare's Macbeth?

Well, I am not quite sure were to find statements, which tell that the evil doings of Macbeth and lady Macbeth are performed because they suffer from mental disease. But what I can say is: their mental illness is caused by their evil doings. (OK, well, in the end, their deeds are caused by their ambition, of course.)

There are enough examples in the text to come to this conclusion. Let's just look at a few of them: Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo, who he murdered, while Lady Macbeth starts sleepwalking and seeing blood on her hands, which is not washable. In the end, she even commits suicide. So it's quite easy to see that after the murder of King Duncan something went terrible wrong – of course, the suffering from insanity is the punishment for the terrible deeds Macbeth and his wife perform.

This brings us to the very conclusion of the drama: Evil doesn't pay!

ps: wer sich fragt, was mich zu diesem eintrag veranlasst hat: es war die englischaufgabe, über die ich gerade resümiert habe.

Macbeth 2006 - filmed in Melbourne
Starring Sam Worthington (from Somersault)
He can be my third husband (Joss Whedon followed by Brian Greenberg)
(think of the alimony!)
The movie wasn't awful, but it wasn't great
I totally agreed with La, who said that Sam Worthington was good, but there were some scenes when you felt he had no idea what the words he was saying actually meant
But it was a very impressive filmic attempt
And the best thing about it was the sound
The foley was seamless and really beautiful
I've never said it before, but go and see it just for the sound
Some of Sam Worthington's suits looked like they'd been made from a dead drag queen's sofa
Mick Malloy plays an assassin, and he plays the role straight
It was just hard to take him seriously
And Gary Sweet is always hillarious when he shouldn't be
And Kym Gyngell as the physician was a bit much
Still, I thought it was a pretty gutsy effort for an Australian production

to set the mood...
[audio http://boxstr.com/files/3017589_lxxu2/09-pharrell-young_girl_%28feat_jay-z%29-i_really_like_you.mp3]

every young man and woman will eventually reach this landmark in their individual relationships, the love bomb. it will either bring the loved-strucked kids closer or brutally break them apart, but the decision lies within the palms of their hands. i was put on by my own girl to throw this post up because i never say the l-word, i simply don't f*ck with that phrase. i'm not quite sure if this phrase may break my relationship, but it will most likely break my persona down, since i am something like a character. back in the day i didn't care much about the word love, i threw it at girls like the department of health throwing condoms in DC and i kept that million-dollar smile on for that occassion, kinda like this one...

[whats funny?] but truly i call it the love bomb, not really inspired by one of the greatests hits created by N.E.R.D., but because of the bomb-part. this word causes too many problems in too many relationships, it's essentially an explosive. people think it's cute to say it to there loved one, they think it makes the relationship stronger. nozr. it spreads the supposed lovers further apart, after having to say this word they start thinking about the future, and if they can really deal with this person for the rest of their lives, hell, if they can even deal with this person in their next phase of life. i sure as hell can't deal with the word, you'll have me thinking i was stuck in a relationship like my manz from knocked up!

i have nothing against people who use the word, if it's truly how they feel, but why should a person get forced into something they aren't ready for. ideologically if you love someone, then it's a wrap on your relationship life...i'm 16 and i don't want to wrap anything up yet, i'm too young! if i like you, i like you... no need for all that mushy-gushy old couple sh!t, no need for that love bomb, at all. there's no room for that here, my dear. but let's look into the definition of love: a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. that definition right there already has me acting foolish, it's just way too deep for me. i can't fade it!

let's bring it back to that picture i have on top, this is kinda how i feel when i'm approached by the word. just unsure of everything, do i really feel this way back, could i ever feel this way back? just simple questions that bring upon indepth thought, feel me. but the worst part in this phase of love is rejection. how do you react to this rejection or how do you really reject...what happens after the rejection? after the rejection the relationship can go nowhere but down under, it's a seal on the relationship...you will be done shortly, the bomb part. i feel that i have expressed enough why the l-word is seen as bomb, just decide whether you are ready to take on the baggage that comes with the word, recheck that definition and see if you feel that way.

[to go along with the official post comes the official mixtape...blast-off mixtape, vol.3: love bomb]
remember... love kills!

At the behest of my loving and supportive wife, I have decided to start a blog, of sorts, about some of my experiences as a contract killer, or Hitman, if you prefer.

Fist, a little background on me, I guess.

My name, for the purpose of this blog, is Isod. It is a contraction of ‘instruments of darkness’, which is an excerpt from Macbeth, by William Shakespeare. It is a story I feel a particular affinity for, due to some of the themes involved, and parallels I’ve drawn to my own life.

I have been retired from my profession for about 2 years now, married for just over one. In all honesty, my wife (then just a friend) was the reason I decided to retire.

Despite her Christian upbringing, and her current beliefs, my wife (who shall forever remain nameless in these postings, for her safety) has always been supportive of me, and my sole confidant throughout the years I worked for governments, mobsters, CEOs, and various church leaders as a killer for hire. She has always loved me, and I her.

During my years working, I maintained a 100% success rate (narrowly so, at times), making me one of the most elite, and highest paid assassins money could buy. I was one of the elite. That I managed to hang on to my own life, and a avoid incarceration, up until now attests to this.

Now, I pretend to be an investor, buying and selling stocks online. It’s mostly just a cover to keep people, especially the IRS, from paying too much attention to me. It has actually turned out to be an enjoyable hobby, much to my surprise.

I expect the authorities will be deleting my blog soon, due to the nature of my recent profession, and possibly some of the material I intend to write about in the future. So, if you happen to find me before that time: welcome. I hope you can glean some enjoyment from my ramblings, and I implore that you not judge me too harshly for a past a little darker than your own.

Adieu

Do you believe in superstitions? The occult elements in MacBeth have led many to believe that tha play is unlucky. Actually, not just unlucky, they believe it's cursed. There have been a series of accidents and deaths reported by those who have acted in the play. You've heard of saying "break a leg" instead of "good luck". Those who perform in Macbeth refer to it as "The Scottish Play". They believe that saying the true title of the tragedy is apparently bad luck.

To learn more about the curse, try this website, http://www.pathguy.com/macbeth.htm and here http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/1906/curse.html

Hello Class,

Monday, we will start our study of Shakespeare with the great tragedy Macbeth. I really think that you will enjoy this work. It is one of his best and features ghosts, witches, violence, madness, and redemption. I'd like you to have Act I and II read by next Friday. As you read, please be thinking about the overarching themes of the work. Some of the most interesting are the thirst for power and the role of one's conscience. Also, consider the fuction of prophecy in Macbeth's acenscion. Does it benefit or destroy him?

Tomorrow, we will finish up our study of Beowulf. I look forward to reading your thought papers and will have them graded and back to you on Tuesday of next week.
