GEORGE TOWN: Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop is trying to divert attention from the Federal Government’s victimisation by claiming that the state government was too obsessive with the deferred mega projects, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

He said the statement only showed Nor Mohamed’s guilty conscience at being exposed for not loving his home state by supporting the cut in development funding for Penang by RM4.7bil.

“Such decisions have given the impression that Abdullah and Nor Mohamed deliberately wanted the Penang economy to fail.

“But the Penang people will prove them wrong by showing their self-reliance, resilience and ability,” he said in a statement Monday.

Lim said the state government would wait for the Prime Minister’s reply on the letter that he handed to review the decision to defer the projects before proceeding with alternative plans.

Lim also said the state government was willing to take the RM4.7bil cash – the cost of cancelled projects for Penang under from the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) – to use on other projects which would benefit Penangites.

He said Abdullah should do this to prove that he did not act unjustly out of vengeance to punish Penangites for selecting the DAP-PKR coalition government in the general election.

Editor: As what our Deputy Prime Minister said, Politic becomes dirty in Malaysia. It's even more obvious in Opposition ruled states.

The things people do in the name of religion. If Unspun were a religious authority he'd tell both Anwar and Saiful to piss off and not cheapen something that is holy to many people. The Quran or any other religious text is meant to transmit the words of the founder to the followers, not function as a lie detector or truth one-upmanship claims. They should take it to the courts if they have a dispute.

On the second instance, who has a greater right to how a deceased person's body is to be treated? The religious court or family members? Whose body is it anyway?

Anwar and accuser both willing to swear on Quran | The Jakarta Post

PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan said they are willing to swear on the Quran over the sodomy allegations.
“I am prepared to swear (on the Quran) if the ulama advise me to,” Anwar said at the rally to protest the fuel price hike at Kelana Jaya Stadium.

He said however that the ulama should be “credible”.

He added that Perak mufti Datuk Seri Harussani Zakaria and the former Federal Territory mufti Datuk Hashim Yahya had advised him that any such allegation should be handled according to Islam and there should be witnesses.

Sources told M-Star Online that Saiful, who is currently under police protection, also agreed to the suggestion by the Mufti of Perlis, Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, to clear his name.

The Associated Press , Kuala Lumpur | Mon, 07/07/2008 3:12 PM | World

An Islamic court has declared a dead man a Muslim, making it virtually impossible for his Hindu
family to cremate his body in the latest dispute over religious conversions in Muslim-majority Malaysia, their lawyer said Monday.

A Shariah court in northern Penang state ruled Friday that B. Elangesvaran, 34, who committed suicide last month, was a Muslim and his body should be released from the hospital for Muslim
burial, lawyer R. Nethaji Rayer said."

"Like other leaders, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is a leader with good points and a little bit of weaknesses, and he is improving daily, so please allow him to continue as President of UMNO, Chairman of Barisan Nasional, and Prime Minister of Malaysia..."

So let him be, and let him sit in the lead, even if Abdullah Ahmad Badawi wants to stay another 10 to 30 years, so be it!"

Early July 2008, some say Malaysian politics has reached a level of a dirty game. And an increasing number is simply fed-up.

I find this situation as Malaysian politics becoming more interesting.

So much so, I want to find out, how the oldies and the veterans are still active, and the young ones are showing an upward movement now, thus they are beginning to move on and draw a new level of political landscape in Malaysia.

So, Mahathir Mohamad is still prominent in the Malaysian political scene. He is one of the main influential leader. Else, try to exclude him on who is the present fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, and who is the next Sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The other main influential leader, I shall call him the Mystery Man. He is calling most of the shots, and I sense he is all out to make sure that Abdullah Ahmad Badawi remain in all the Chairs he is sitting on. I also observe the Mystery Man is living on top of where the power is.

Do you remember when in a car there is a steering fix in front of the seat next to the driver? You ask your child to drive, while you are in total control. That is how I see the Mystery Man at the back, and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in the forefront like he is leading, but in actual fact he is just flowing.

The latest happenings to Anwar Ibrahim, lead me to witness a more wise, a more prepared, Anwar Ibrahim in joining the main influential leader. He is not there yet, but he surely is rising fast.

I should be seeing Mohd Najib Abdul Razak moving into the lead also, but there is so much wait and see. There must much more learning, if he is really moving to sit as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia. Otherwise, the procrastination itself, and the timeliness of timing, will knock him out of the path to Prime Ministership.

My close friends told me, how big Khairy Jamaluddin is in centrally controlling the Malaysian politics. I told them, I judge Khairy Jamaluddin as just a loud speaker. He is not up yet to the level of the main influential leader. But I have to acknowledge, he is learning fast. So, I see what he is saying now, and I check the opposite. He is smart, and a Prime Minister substance in the future.

Ezam Mohd Noor is more convincing now. He is doing what he is doing, a moving to get back Barisan Nasional to power in Selangor, and very much a doing to solidifying his presence so as to be purely accepted not only by Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, but UMNO as a whole.

In the meanwhile, we can also see individuals such as Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Muhyiddin Yassin, Rais Yatim, Hishammuddin Hussein, Mukhriz Mahathir, and how they position each in this changing political scene.

If each continues the way they are, each cannot even enter the stage, but just be observers for a long moment to come.

While all this is going on, I am also interested to see Isa Samad, and I sense his is not small in his movement, and he can be huge when he positions well into the stage.

Are you fed-up? Are you not getting involved? I say, the Malaysian political scene is getting more interesting!

The God willing, update soon...

(Anwar – what is his game plan in the next few weeks till September 2008? Image source: http://bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com)

As if things could not get messier, the PI has now gone missing, adding more comedy mystery into the plot…

In the meantime, certainly things are working in favour of Pak Lah – his two biggest oppositions to his PM post, Najib & Anwar is fighting themselves out – wasting time, energy and perhaps money to mudsling each other.

On the onset, it does appear like Anwar has an edge over Najib but by no means is a clear winner.

The same observation made by RPK in his Malaysia Today:-

Yes, this looks bad for Najib, as well as for Anwar. And it certainly looks like Najib is behind the second SD as well as the sodomy allegation against Anwar -- while Anwar, in turn, is seen as behind the first SD that links Najib to Altantuya.

In one swoop, both Najib and Anwar are brought down. And this means Abdullah has now rid himself of two serious problems. And with these two serious threats neutralised Abdullah can now take care of the lesser threats of Tengku Razaleigh and Muhyiddin.

Yes, it looks like Abdullah will still be Umno President and Prime Minister of Malaysia come Christmas. I would not have said this three weeks ago but today I say this with confidence.

And while Najib and Anwar finish each other off, Abdullah is giggling in the background and choosing the Christmas tree that he will erect in Putrajaya come December. Well done, Pak Lah. Brilliant moves.

Now let’s see how Najib and Anwar extricate themselves from the mess they are currently in.

Certainly it looks like Anwar will be spending considerable time on “road shows” to clean up his name (he even echoed the same thing in the last public rally) and some quarters are worried that Anwar will be distracted from the original mission – i.e. to take over the Government on September 16.

Certainly it looks like so on paper but should we be worried on this?

Look at Anwar. He did not stand in the last general election – he is not a MP or State Assemblyman. He is not appointed to any position in any “large firms” or government agencies other than being the advisor to PKR and Pakatan Rakyat.

Anwar certainly have all the time to go on road shows.

The PI by doing the 2nd SD have done more damage to Najib (irregardless whether Najib is involved or not). Of course the 1st SD and 2nd SD might be irrelevant to an extent if Razak denies such conversations have take place and the PI is no where to be found.

In the meantime, Anwar should cut to the chase and keep his September 16 deadline on target. This country has seen enough “sodomy” of public funds, racial biasness and wasted development opportunities.

Another clown act is just the last thing we need right now.

I had stepped out to escape the blazing sun on the stage of the Kelana Jaya Stadium and was trying t

I had stepped out to escape the blazing sun on the stage of the Kelana Jaya Stadium and was trying to cool off with some icy drink when I heard some folksy tunes which was rather pleasant, to which I thought to myself, "Ahhh... finally some decent music during a rally...". I only sat up when more excellent hardcore riffs drifted near the lake, to which i thought to myself,"Yeah!"

It was only much later I found out the godfather of Malaysian underground music, Joe Kidd, Bullet and the rest of Carburetor Dung graced our protest (and this time, not as protestors) and are now subjects of a media witch-hunt in light of having nothing better to report on. Let it rest, guys. It was a misunderstanding.

For the record, back in 2004 I was very honoured to have played with Joe and Bullet in a one-off experimental set, even sang and massacred a song with my non-existent vocal abilities - I think Joe forgot the lyrics or something so I had make up for the grinding and screeching. I recall the audience being stunned to silence. Then again, how many people in Malaysia can claim that they had shared a stage with members of CD? :D

So after a couple of media calls this morning, I decided to state some of my thoughts on this whole issue so that I don't have to repeat them:-

1. Carburetor Dung was and still is a band ahead of its time. They rarely perform these days, but if they do, I'll try to catch them.

2. Joe Kidd and his mates are one of those rare thoughtful socially and politically conscious Malaysians trying to make a difference in their work, lives and music.

3. I didn't see anything. But i was told the shorts were cobalt blue. I've seen much more during ceramahs when people wearing loose pants sit down and lean forward ... (argh... my eyes, my eyes!)

4. If they get to perform again at a protest, I hope they will invite me to play with them.

5. I am grateful that the Youth Squad of KeADILan handled the situation very well and led the band to safety.

6. Some 60% of voters in Malaysia are and will be 35 years and below. Go figure.

7. The events that ensued and ended as soon as it began had no bearing on the price of fuel. Sorry, but the stars of last night were Lim Kit Siang, Kamaruddin Jaafar and Anwar Ibrahim, not them and them.

8. I like my music fast and furious. Maybe I'll mellow down when I reach the big four-O. But I doubt I'll forget my roots.

On another note but still on the same subject of music, I hope I can get more spaces for our youth to play music - folk, metal, classical, whatever and help sponsor some music classes especially for kids from the lower income strata - most can't afford lessons like the middle-class, and the select few learn from their friends. What holds us back is the lack of spaces for expression and creativity. Why isn't music a compulsory subject in schools? In fact, one of my more satisfying part-time jobs once upon a time was teaching a couple of teenage girls and some adults electric guitar. Give our youths guitars and music lessons please, not more 24-hr cybercafes or National (dis)Service.

And the Home Minister should stop talking rot. Direct your preaching to the MB of Pahang first.

We Malaysians have shown our ugly side in so many ways Here's a new one.

The Star's Bahasa Malaysia portal Mstar reports that the Tarantulas are disappearing from our highlands, especially Fraser's Hill in Pahang, because they are ending up as pets overseas.

The Fraser's Hill Tarantulas are said to be about 40 years old. These hairy, scary fellas are known as Old World Spiders and are said to have a lifespan of up to 60 years.

[wp_caption id="attachment_595" align="alignnone" width="238" caption="Hairy Beauty"][/wp_caption]

So I guess there is a market out there for uncle and aunt Tarantulas. In Japan, according to the article, Aunt Tarantula fetches the yen equivalent of RM228. That is not very expensive if you consider that these critters are rare.

So our brave fellas go into the jungles and hunt down these beauties to be sold abroad. Unconscionable rape of the forest and thievery that brings nothing much. One must consider the fact that the catch cannot be any good.

These Tarantulas mate once a year, (they evidently have not discovered Tongkat Ali) so I suppose the proliferation of these big spiders are not at a healthy stage, what with loss of habitat and poaching.

Malaysia is home to 12 different types of Old World Spiders. In Malaysia, there is a group called the Malaysian Tarantula Society that's trying to educate our fellow citizens about these gorgeous Arachnids/Theraphosidae.

Visit their site for more information, and the next time you see people poaching spiders from our old forests, beat them up. I mean it.

That is, of course, after liberating these babies, capisce?

There is a RM50,000 fine for those caught in possession of these Tarantulas under our Wildlife Protection Act. It's no joke.

The one nice thing I say about this despicable trade in endangered species is that, these spiders are actually ending up as pets in foreign countries. I guess they fare much better than the Malaysian chicks who became drug mules and now languishing in prison.

However, never in the history from the days of Tun Razak till today have the politicians provided leadership or direction for country's progress whether it is in education or socio-economic aspects.

They have proven to be greedy for power, racially motivated with all their words and actions only to gather support to continue in power. There is no such thing as having the people in mind. Rather it is only their political survival in their thoughts.

Therefore, the GE12 upset has really threatened their very own survival and they resort to all sorts of methods to restore power to themselves.

Alas, when can we expect the Tunku's days of friendliness, peace, fatherly and brotherly thoughts, sharing and caring among all the races to come back? We never will, so long as the ruling politicians remain in power.

Heartbroken: This country of ours is heading for disaster if we do not have a change of government as soon as possible. The economy and the business environment is at their lowest ebb ever and there will be more bad news than good down the road.

The foreign inflow of funds has dried up. No foreign investor in his right mind would think of investing in Malaysia at the moment. Their wait-and-see position is merely a polite way of ignoring the present political impasse.

For the sake of the people, please do the decent thing and let the popular people’s choice replace the present regime.

Jude Manickam: I think we are on the threshold of a new Malaysia. Whether for good or worse is another matter. The soap operas have got to stop.

And ultimately, the power bestowed upon the PM is there to be used for the good of all, not a selected few.

In this context, Pak Lah must take charge and do the right thing for the nation - not for Najib, Umno or the man who lives down the road.

For heaven's sakes man, take charge!

Dian Abdullah: Why can’t we have a good leader? Malaysia’s rich resources play an important role. With so much wealth still available it is still a free-for-all for all the greedy people who know that the number one seat is the absolute avenue to free money.

This is the truth for us Malaysians. Look at the events since June 18, 2008. Intimidating. It is sad that no one, absolutely no one is going to do anything. We can talk till kingdom comes and bring out more evidence but where will it all lead to?

The AG, police, ACA, judges, DPM, PM, ex-PM, ex-finance minister, their families and in-laws are all tainted with abuses. These people have no shame or honour because they worship money.

This month and next will change the lives of many. But whether we will learn from this or not is difficult to predict.

No leader of any party has come forward to educate and discuss the actual situation we are going to face in 10 years time. Our leaders are only interested in the now.

They lie through their teeth and simply do not care what happens to us and our future generations.

God Forbid: All the scandals and catastrophes are well-camouflaged and covered-up in our country.

We have no crime, no corruption, no unemployment, a higher standard of education comparable to any other developed nation, no poverty, a wonderfully efficient civil service, no racism, equal opportunity for all races.

All in all a truly fascinating Malaysia. So we have leaders who are gifted, running an efficient machinery of governance and have a lot of free time. Some go on official overseas visits and have a whale of a time.

Then they all return back to good old Malaysia as good holy men upholding the nation’s interests at heart. What a joke.

Shafiq Alhabshi: Where are we heading with all these bickering? By next week it will be four months since the legislators have assumed office and yet the political scene is far from stable.

Whilst we are facing a myriad of economic and financial issues, which remains unrequited, we are also faced with numerous issues and problems which could arguably cause a snowball crisis effect.

The dramas which unfold almost on a daily basis are of no help in the likelihood of a crisis. No doubt when it started, we were pleased because it appeared to keep the ruling party on their toes.

But similar to the law of nature, any overdose could be detrimental. So much so we are losing track of the countless dramas to the extent that even before digesting one episode, another unfolds.

We, the citizens/netizens had elected our representative to air our grievances, issues, concerns and problems for them solve - not to be our ‘entertainers’ with all these antics.

In conclusion, should I be accorded with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet leaders of both BN and PR, I would like to hand them each with a huge banner reading ‘Buat Kerja’.

JD Lovrenciear: The report after report and the retractions, denials, and sordid allegations is tearing this nation apart.

For the love of this nation, its crown and the citizens, can someone please stop all this and help us get on with nation-building seriously?

It is crystal clear that someone has got to tell this - do something. Lead, follow or get out of the way.

Today, every Malaysian is deeply injured by the saga after saga spewing out from within the corridors of power. Our image, reputation and dignity in the eyes of the world is damaged.

How do we explain matters to our children? Do the politicians and those at the helm of power not see this sordid and festering limbo that they have allowed this nation to sink into?

Mind you, we are not having differences of opinions over economics or how to manage a country. We are fighting over who ‘rammed’ who and who is protecting who. By god, is this what Malaysian politics and governance has come to?

So, please Mr Honorable Prime Minister, can you please do something? Get your people to lead, follow or get out of the way.

The nation cannot be held at ransom with all this corruption, scandals, denials, allegations and what have you as in these past months.

Phlip Rodrigues: A fresh general election is urgently needed to solve the current deplorable state of affairs. The country should wipe its slate clean again and remove all the actors, be they in the ruling party or the opposition.

The allegations of abuse of power, corruption, immoral conduct and criminal behaviour have tarnished all the people in this long-running drama.

Real power lies with the common people and it is they who can ultimately decide the destiny of the country. Would they rather they read and watch devils and devils (there are no angels) duelling to the detriment of the health of the country?

Malaysians should go the polls again and send the whole lot of them to oblivion.

For this to happen, the current political masters, who suffered a severe drubbing in the recent polls, should all resign and let the court of public opinion be the final arbiter.

This time around, we must elect new faces who do not belong to any of the current political parties. The new Cabinet must be made up of men and women of the highest integrity.

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is aware that the people are fed up with

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is aware that the people are fed up with the political bickering that is going on in the country and has pledged to give priority to the needs of the people.

“I also know that the people are becoming fed up with the political manoeuvring taking place currently.

Editor: Malaysians are even more FED UP with leaders that focus on their pocket rather than the people living. I can't really see what the current leaders are doing good for their people. Education is lagging behind as compared to our neighbors; health care fees is rocketing; inflation is becoming worst;...

“Slandering has become more rampant. One no longer cares whether the accusations are true or otherwise,” Abdullah said to Bernama yesterday.

He was commenting on the Sunday Star front-page report on the reaction of the people and community leaders over the political exchanges in the past few weeks.

“My main priority is to pay attention to important issues like the rising prices of fuel and goods, and to continue with the development programmes for the people,” he said.

Editor: Then you better do fast, as Malaysians have no more patience in listening to flowery story anymore.

“The government wants to ensure a situation where the people need not worry or be afraid. They should be able to concentrate on their priorities in ensuring they can overcome their current problems and can do their best for themselves, their families and companies or organisations they represent,” he said.

“I hope the people will join me in focusing on efforts to overcome all the problems and challenges faced today so that we can ensure peace, security and prosperity for the people,” he added.

Commenting on the demonstration organised by certain groups as well as the current political developments, he said that he was perturbed by what was happening now “but I am aware of and understand the current situation.”

“The general election is over. The people have already given their trust to the political parties of their choice. The people have chosen Barisan Nasional to continue to rule.

“As such, I don't see the rationale for the continued demonstrations, or to play politics purely to create instability that could jeopardise the people's safety and it is also aimed at toppling the government elected by the people,” he said.

Editor: The country should be ruled by the capable one. We need leader with vision and ACTION. No more empty promise! The country is demoting.
Malaysians don't need "sounds good plan", We need pragmatic and result driven plan.

I once believed in what he says and with all sweet talks around, who wouldn't believe? Do you still remember the slogan 'Do not work for me, but work with me'. Ya lah, that was back then in 2004 perhaps? I can still recall looking at a poster at the back side of the bus. But thinking back now, maybe i did not see 'clearly' back then. The poster was at the back side of the bus, and with all the thick smoke coming out from the bus exhaust pipe, i should have known something is not right, but then, i got cheated anyway.

Today, this Mr. Nice Guy is acting as if he's Mr. Nice again, talking crap and crab and inserting 'with me' whenever possible inside his statement. Look at this, taken from one of Star newspaper report.

“My main priority is to pay attention to important issues like the rising prices of fuel and goods, and to continue with the development programmes for the people,” he said.

“I hope the people will join me in focusing on efforts to overcome all the problems and challenges faced today so that we can ensure peace, security and prosperity for the people,” he added.

Dei, podah la brudder. Raise the fuel price yourself and then now try to pay attention to it? Syok sendiri is it? Enough is enough. Once bitten, twice shy. I'd say go fcuk yourself while we join the sodomy guy to overcome all the problems and challenges, at least there's still hope on the sodomy guy. But if that guy screws up as well, then to hell with him as well. For now, i'd rather place my hope on one ass loving guy.

Peace and Freedom
.
We recently completed three or four articles advocating additional exploration and drilling for oil within the United States. Decades of environmentally driven policy and law have created a system of rules and regulations in the U.S. that stifles exploration and development, we found in our research.

But in other nations, many other nations, steps are being taking to ramp up exploration and drilling in order to quench the thirst of the oil hungry world.

Thailand, for example, has oil and has exploited this wealth and natural resource through a network of off-shore oil drill rigs since the 1970s. Now Thailand's oil companies have decided they can exploit these older fields further and find new oil with the help of Malaysia’s oil company Petronas.

To Americans used to ExxonMobile, Shell and BP, the Malaysian company Petronas may seem an enigma but you might recall its landmark office structure, the Petronas Towers, which were the tallest towers in the world until just a few years ago.

Above: The Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

You know the Petronas Towers if you watched the Sean Connery, Catherine Zeta Jones action/thriller "Entrapment."

Unless you were watching the studly Mr. Connery or the beautiful Ms. Zeta Jones the whole flick....

O.K. Back to oil.

Thailand figures Petronas can help in finding and exploiting that "tough to get at oil" that hasn't yet been put into refineries.

Petronas also has a huge reputation as a good neighbor. The company pays large subsidies to schools and universities and chooses the best and the brightest from nations like Thailand for education in the world of oil at the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in Tronoh, Perak.

Meanwhile, the PTT Group of Thailand is pushing ahead with its investment plan in the Philippines.

Siripong Phoungpaka, PTT Philippines Corp. president, said they would be interested to bid for the government‘s 40 percent stake in Petron Corp. should the state-owned firm decide to sell. “If government will still want to sell its part via bidding, we will join,” Phoungpaka said.

This according to the Philippine Star, Monday, July 7, 2008.

.
Above: A Chinese gas platform, seen here in September 2005, in the East China Sea near the Japan-China border. China is in talks with Cuba to drill in the Strait of Florida. No U.S. oil companies are allowed to drill on the continental shelf even more than 50 miles from Florida.

"The group earlier signified its interest to invest as much as $400 million in the country’s petrochemical industry,” reported Donnabelle L. Gatdula of the Star.

Do we see vibrant and smart oil company moves like this in the U.S.?

No. The Congress has created a spider's web of laws that ties oil exploration and drilling into the proverbial gordian knot....

Borneo Post Online
.
BANGKOK: Thailand yesterday urged Malaysia’s oil company Petronas to further expand its presence in the Kingdom by investing more in the oil and gas sector, Deputy Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat said.

Expressing the government’s satisfaction with Petronas’s venture so far, Somchai said there was scope for expansion, especially through joint development projects in the Southern Thai region where gas could be delivered to Malaysia more easily.

“The current joint venture between Petronas and PTT have benefited both countries. Hopefully, they can work together to explore opportunities elsewhere,” he said after presenting Petronas scholarships to 10 Thai students to pursue their higher education at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in Tronoh, Perak. Also present were Malaysian ambassador to Thailand Datuk Shaarani Ibrahim, Petronas country manager Abu Bakar Salleh and Petronas retail (Thailand) chief executive officer and managing director Mohd Aidnil Abdul Razak.

Already, Petronas, which has operations in 32 countries, has sponsored 49 students to study at UTP and this would the sixth batch, bringing the number of foreign students there to over 400 from 19 countries.

The students are from Songkhla, Bangkok, Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani.

Petronas and Petroleum Authority of Thailand have jointly developed the Joint Development Area (JDA), costing US$800 million and one of the biggest investments in southern Thailand.

It involves onshore and offshore pipelines that transport gas from the JDA to the GSP before being transmitted to the Peninsular Gas Utilisation (PGU) pipeline at Changlun in Kedah, Malaysia.

In 2004, Petronas entered the retail sector when it bought out the entire retail business of Q8 from Kuwait Oil and currently has about 118 stations nationwide.

Somchai, however, said many companies are holding back their investments in

Thailand due to the current political uncertainty, especially in view of the ongoing street demonstrations held by anti-government protestors.

“Many companies keen to invest or expand their operations. But they are taking a wait and see approach due to the problem caused by the demonstrators,” he said.

Shaarani, in his speech, said Petronas’ generosity in extending financial assistance would go a long way in helping the needy and deserving students to build a brighter and better future through education.

“Petronas contribution to the educational development in Thailand will certainly enhance the existing strong relationship and friendly ties between the two countries” as well as in areas such as employment and entrepreneurship.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim told some 20,000 supporters at an anti-infla

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim told some 20,000 supporters at an anti-inflation rally on Sunday that the government should quit over a recent fuel price hike.

The crowd chanted "PM resign" as Anwar criticised Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for last month's 41 percent increase in the cost of petrol which has deepened his unpopularity after disastrous March general elections.

Anwar, who is fighting new accusations of sodomy - the same charge that saw him jailed a decade ago - has said he is poised to seize power with the help of defecting lawmakers from the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

"The people are desperate but the government is happy," he told the rally. "If oil prices cannot be reduced, the BN government should step down."

The marathon protest was held at a stadium in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur despite a police ban and amid deepening political turmoil with Anwar and deputy premier Najib Razak trading serious allegations against each other.

"I vow we will fight and struggle until the Pakatan Rakyat becomes the next government of Malaysia," Anwar said, referring to his three-party opposition alliance.

"But believe me, what was alleged 10 years ago is being repeated with malice and slander, and I will not accept this but will fight it to the end."

Despite the fears of a crackdown, security was light and the only ruckus came when the lead singer of a rock band performing on stage exposed his backside in a political gesture -- enraging the conservative crowd.

The stadium was ablaze with demonstrators wearing T-shirts in red, the colour of the protest movement. Many sported bandanas with the slogan "No Price Hike" as they watched performances and listened to speeches.

"The people are suffering and I don't know how long we can go on like this," said 40-year-old housewife P. Kalaiselvi, who came with her husband and four daughters.

"We would like the government to hear our problems and to help us but they are only helping themselves."

The fuel price hike has heaped pressure on Abdullah after the March polls which handed the opposition its best ever result - a third of parliamentary seats and control of five states.

He has refused calls to quit and hand over to his heir apparent Najib, who is now engaged in a brawl with Anwar that could decide who is the next leader of Malaysia.

A week ago an aide to Anwar filed a police report claiming that the 60-year-old opposition leader had sodomised him, causing Anwar to flee to the Turkish embassy, saying he feared for his life.

The claims threatened his stunning political comeback, staged after he was sacked as deputy premier in 1998 and jailed on sodomy and corruption charges he said were orchestrated by the government.

In the next sensational turn of events, a private investigator made allegations linking Najib to a Mongolian woman murdered in 2006. A close friend of Najib is on trial for abetting the murder.

At a press conference organised by Anwar, Balasubramaniam Perumal released a sworn statement saying he had given police detailed information about 28-year-old Altantuya Shaariibuu which was never raised during the trial.

However, a day later, he retracted the claims linking Najib to Altantuya, saying he made them under duress. Najib has angrily denied even meeting with the murdered woman.

Balasubramanian's nephew on Saturday filed a missing person's report, saying he and his family had disappeared.

Criminal Investigation Department director Bakri Zinin said Malaysian police had enlisted the help of Interpol and authorities in neighbouring countries to help locate the investigator. - AFP/de

I always like to see and hear how leader behave. You certainly will know some piece of Najib’s

I always like to see and hear how leader behave. You certainly will know some piece of Najib's mind after went through the following article. Judge yourself if he is a material for Prime Minister of Malaysia?

PEKAN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has denied being involved in private investigator P. Balasubramaniam’s retraction of his first statutory declaration.

“I have no knowledge of anything.

“I had to make a strong denial before this as it was not an issue of seeking the truth but a political ploy to influence public perception,” he said, adding that he would not seek legal redress on the matter or hide behind an injunction.

Editor: Only heaven knows...

“His retraction means he has no credibility in whatever he said earlier,” Najib said after opening the Peramu Jaya 3 Rukun Tetangga scheme here yesterday.

Editor: When you pointing others with a finger, the other FOUR fingers are pointing at yourself! It's so true...

On Friday, Balasubramaniam made a second statutory declaration and withdrew what he had said on Thursday on Najib's involvement with Mongolian murder victim Altantuya Shaarribuu.

Najib said the statutory declaration should not have been made in the first place and Malaysian politics had reached a stage where people were employing dirty tactics, including disregarding the country’s laws.

“Those involved are making a mockery of the country’s laws.

Editor: Who is the one who really making a mockery of the country’s laws??!!

“They are not afraid. Maybe, there is a motive and a bad intention or perhaps, (they were) offered a carrot to initiate the move.

“I also regret that an opposition leader was involved in the matter that touched on an on-going trial.”

“The fate of three men are in the hands of the court over a very serious criminal charge,” he said, adding that the case should not be politicised.

Najib said that although the issue caused an adverse effect on his image, he had to face it somehow.

Editor: A dishonest CEO can ruin a company; a non-creditable leader can destroy a country!!

“Slander is not something new but in the age of ICT, it can spread much faster and wider.

“As such, the people must strengthen their belief and make a conclusion with the right frame of mind,” he said.

On the concept of Bangsa Malaysia, Najib said it would be a reality if all the races have respect for one another.

Editor: There is nothing racial over here. Bala is a Malaysian and he has right to tell the truth. Why do you want to attribute such statutory declaration as RACIAL?! You are RACIAL indeed. So sad...

When you said politic is dirty, but your politic is so RACIAL. So outdated!

“We must watch our words, language and conversation so as not to offend the feelings of others.”

About 15 people had hacked our system, we know their origin, and they had downloaded our messages, thanks to wordpress.com but we knew it during that period of time, but our team agreed later, that we press the private link and "reproduced" a part of the details transpired during wired, but with a different title which sounds like a "London Note". You can still find them in the blogrolls. It was a modest act, as we blogs through several platforms, just to find the truth.
At 4.00 pm +8hrs Malaysia Local time, this evening, JUST NOW, our line were hacked, and even now you can't find us easily, we are not at all at the line - the vulture of blogs spits.
