Heroes Episode 3.04

"I Am Become Death"

Written by: Aron Eli Coleite

As I write this, I am watching "I Am Become Death" for the third time. I was actually very surprised to hear so much negative feedback about this episode on the online forum communities. Of course, there's plenty of good buzz about it, but a lot of bad as well. I just can't see how anybody could have a problem with this episode. I thought it was the best one all season. I'd even go as far to say as it was the best one of the series since "Five Years Gone" from way back in Season One. Its definitely my new favorite episode.

After the jump you'll find my spoiler filled review. This is a huge episode but I'll try to generalize it as much as possible. Keep in mind, I'm still referring to Future Peter Petrelli (with the scar) as "Futurelli." Present day Peter Petrelli is simply "Peter."

- SPOILER ALERT -

I'm going to try to avoid a recap formula to this review, although there's so much going on in this episode, all of which I want to mention, it always ends up looking like a review in the end. I'll try to just hit the high notes...

First off, regarding the weird title: Its a quote from J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb. "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." Cool, huh?

Now, Futurelli actually takes Peter to the future, but we see this episode as if through Matt's eyes as he uses Isaac's precog ability to see all the events of the future first hand.

MOHINDER & MAYA

Mohinder is becoming something... weird. I'm assuming its a cockroach or something roach-like. Its not just changing him physically but his aggression is getting more and more out of control. We see in his future scenes with Peter that he's become something he feels he needs to hide. Some have speculated that the scaly look of his hands suggest something serpent like, but the sounds he makes and the speed with which he crawls across the floor, plus the crawling up the wall in "The Butterfly Effect" suggests something more insect-like.

As cool as this whole Mohinder thing is, and despite my appreciation for the obvious homage to "The Fly" with Jeff Goldblum, I really hope he finds a cure to this and that future doesn't happen. I want good guy Mohinder back!

Now what's up with Maya completely losing her accent? My parents have lived in the states for almost 20 years, and they still have their accent. Don't think that because your cleavage is amazing I'm not going to notice your accent's gone! ... She does have a great rack though, doesn't she? (Okay ladies, I apologize. Its all in good fun. Don't send me hate mail...)

TRACY

Tracy is one of three triplets. Apparently Tracy, Niki and Barbara were separated after being experimented on by the company. They injected them with a formula that gave them abilities. It's obvious this is the formula Hiro and Ando are looking to retrieve. Its a perfected version of what Mohinder was trying. And by "perfected" I mean it doesn't result in bug-like transformations.

One thing I love about this particular reveal is that it puts to rests any theories about Jessica and really straightens the whole thing out. Jessica was a younger sister. Season One's Jessica storyline plays out as normal. Jessica dies, and Niki is so affected by it she develops multiple personalities, one of which included Jessica. She (Jessica) is not, however, one of the triplets, and the super strength belonged to Niki. Now with Niki dead, Tracy is our new hero but there's a third out there; Barbara. Babs is probably the villain we see standing with Adam, Knox and Matt's Dad in Angela's dream. Ali Larter must have a lot of fun working on this show.

I enjoyed the Nathan and Tracy scenes. Everytime I see Nathan on screen, I'm shouting at him to take flight already and stop denying his abilty. I was ecstatic to see him fly in this one. FINALLY! And I thought it was funny and brilliant the way the directer transitions from Nathan and Tracy's first kiss, to four years in the future when they're President and First Lady.

PETER & FUTURELLI

The Futurelli and Peter stuff if always great and fun for me. I love that they go four years into the future and encounter almost all of our favorite Heros as their future selves. Futurelli is killed by Claire, who's working with Knox and a much more mature Daphne, who's married to Matt and is raising Molly. Then there's creepy buggy Mohinder, lurking in the shadows. And, of course, there's Gabriel Gray. Sylar seems to have had a son, and has reformed. He's learned to suppress his hunger, and control himself, no longer calling himself Sylar but returning to his former Gabriel alter-ego.

Now, many people seem to have a problem with this. They don't want Sylar to redeem himself. They don't like knowing that his evil ways are a result of a side-effect to his ability; a hunger he couldn't control. That makes him looked justified, or like some kind of victim. I can understand people needing to feel like Sylar is just pure evil for no other reason than he just is. He's greedy and wants all the power he can get his hands on. I get that. Its the whole reason why people loved Heath Ledger's Joker so much. Because he had no reason for being evil, he just was. But me, I think back to season one, when we went into the past and saw how Sylar came to be. As Gabriel Gray, he was a regular guy. And a nice guy at that. His psychosis only surfaced when he discovered his ability, which fits in perfectly with what they're saying now. His evil desire to kill and stock up on abilities is a hunger that comes as a side effect from his core ability, which is to understand how things work. This is nothing new people, we've known this since season one. Get over it already. Besides, the future isn't written in stone, especially on Heroes. There's no reason to assume Sylar will ever reform.

Now, the scenes with Gabriel and Peter at the Bennet house was amazing. Painting the future, fixing the watch with the German's ability, Peter takes Sylar's ability, Gabriel's Son was named Noah, Knox killing the kid, Gabriel losing control and blowing up Costa Verde. It was all just brilliantly done. And Daphne getting the drop on Peter with her super-speed and not letting up so he didn't have a chance to catch up. That was one exciting and beautiful scene. It was just so intense, I still get all freaked out and excited. Its a big melting pot of emotions. You feel sad for Little Noah's death and Gabriel's pain. Then you're excited and rooting for Gabriel as he beats the hell out of Knox. Then you worry when Gabriel starts to glow. And as he screams "Save Us!" he blows up and you see an entire city's destruction... I don't know about you but my heart was beating so very fast.

Seeing Peter subject to Sylar's hunger was pretty intense. He even attacks Nathan in the future. Out only hope is that he learns to control this hunger like Gabriel did and get back to being our hero... That wont happen for a while, though. Looks like Peter's our latest villain.

Claire's run in with Sylar has clearly had long lasting effects on her. Future Claire is a bad ass and kind of a bitch, if you pardon my french.

NATHAN & LINDERMAN

I really liked the Nathan and Linderman scene. Linderman makes it clear he's not dead or in Nathan's head. His core ability is healing others, which he makes a point of bringing up to confirm he's the reason Nathan's even alive. But when Nathan suggests he's a telepath, Linderman shoots that down and says it's nothing that obvious. I've very curious to find out what's going on there.

MATT, MOLLY AND DAPHNE

Matt marries Daphne in the future, and continues raising Molly. Daphne in the future is not annoying, immature and over the top w/ her facial expressions like her younger self is in the present. This gives me a lot more respect for the actress. Now that I understand she's playing the younger Daphne differently from the grown up Daphne, I don't look at it as bad acting. Its quite the opposite.

Matt following a turtle? Priceless and hilarious.

HIRO AND ANDO

Hiro has the key to the whole mystery? And apparently he buried it with Adam. When he digs up Adam, and Adam immediately springs back to life and begins to choke Hiro, I cheered! I loved Adam's character. He was one of the best parts of Season 2. I'm excited for his return and can't wait for him to team up with some crazy villains and wreak havoc!

So seriously, how can anybody not like this episode? It was perfect. I can't think of a single thing I have a problem with, or a single moment of inconsistency which can't be easily explained. I loved this episode. As stated, its my new favorite.

[gallery]

The great divide between good and evil is made distinct this episode. However who stands on which side at the current stage is unknown. It is hard to distinguish who is 'good' and who is 'bad.'

Tracey Strauss is one of three triplets, who have unique abilities. When thinking this, Ali Larter must be happy that she can die again and still have another character to play. The identical triplets Tracey,Nicky and Bobboa?! unsure but these three were not special to begin with. Zimmerman is the person who 'probably' gave them their powers but his mind has been erased of that knowledge. Interesting things.

So the future plays another big role on determining what heroes will do. We've already seen Hiro go into the future and realise the consequences of losing the formula. Now Peter and his future counterpart explore the future. The future is an interesting one. Everyone has powers, and this is thanks to an injection that can be bought easily at a price. Future Peter considers this 'bad' as he knows that humans are selfish and will not control their powers. So what side is Future Peter on? He's on the bad site of the people who promote the powers. Claire is one of these people, along with Daphne and Knox(enchanced strength dude). This explains alot about what happened in the first episode. But why is Peter going against everyone? And yes Daphne=Matt's Future Wife LEWL.

So how's life with Suresh? His failed formula is transforming him into a cockroach. Disgusting as it may seem, the future shows us what he is. His monstrosity must be so hideous, we weren't even allowed to see his face. I think Suresh will find the correct formula, which would have given the powers to everyone in the future, or someone will get their hands on the formula the company have been desperately trying to protect from everyone.

Sylar in the future was just a funny. I should say Gabriel, he's become more controlled, and has become a dad of an interesting named son called Noah. Now isn't this such a coincidence that his Noah happens to have the same names as Clare's foster dad. Maybe this is the Noah we know but in kid form? Anyway, Peter learning Gabriel's power of learning how everything works serves to be in his worst interest. The hunger of power overwhlems sense of judgement, taking the powers of his own brother! Wait he doesn't need to do that. I wonder though how knowing Sylar's power will affect things. I'm sure Sylar knows exactly what is going on but just isn't telling everyone. Sylar has potential to be GOOD!

I'm still a bit lost on who is on which side but my opinions on this episode. It just turned everything over on its head. Hiro digging up Adam? Interesting I say.

Phew, this is LAAAATE! You know what's been holding me up? The freakin' 90210 recap. I huffed and I puffed and I got through the Gossip Girl and double-Heroes one, but 90210 is killing me because I'm finding that I don't give a crap about this show. So I apologize in advance for what is probably a sub par, disjointed recap of that show, and am letting you know that henceforth I'm putting 90210 on hold.

With the addition of two NBC shows to the line-up, the menu's very, very full this week. And will be from here on out! I bring you Gossip Girl (2.4 "The Ex-Files"), Heroes (3.1 "The Second Coming"; 3.2 "The Butterfly Effect"), The Hills (4.7 "While Lauren's Away..."), 90210 (1.5 "Wide Awake and Dreaming"), America's Next Top Model (11.5 "Fierce Eyes"), Project Runway (5.11 "Rock 'N Runway"), and The Office (5.1 "Weight Loss").

Are you ready? 'Cause they're all after the jump.

Monday, 9/22

Gossip Girl - 2.4 "The Ex-Files"

Ahhh, the more this season plugs on, the more excited I am about upcoming plot lines. I'm pretty sure this episode and the previous one ("The Dark Night") are driving the final nail in the coffin that was last season's drama. And I have to say that I am so excited about it. I grow weary of the Serena/Dan mess, because, really, they're both idiots. Give me something new!

The most brilliant part of this episode? That Chuck freakin' Bass orchestrated the whole thing. Every single thing that went on in this episode (save the whole Cougar Catherine/Marcus debacle, which was just a happy accident) was a part of his master plan, I knew that from the get go. What I didn't get until the reveal at the end, though, was why he was investing so much energy in pitting post-breakup Dan and Serena against each other. He's made very clear this season so far that all his energy will be devoted to either having sex with Blair, ruining Blair, or, preferably, doing both at the same time. I mean, sure, he's shown that he's somewhat protective of Serena (which I find so endearing), but screwing over Dan for Serena's sake is too selfless an act for Chuck. You know what they say — leopard, spots, that whole chestnut.

At any rate, there are two main screwy plots in this episode that are kept separate for the most part. The first, as previously mentioned, is centered around Serena and Dan and their post-breakup awkwardness. The Constance Billard/St. Jude gang all goes back to school, and both S and D are worried about seeing the other one and it being awkward. Chuck, however, brilliantly "finds" (read: hires) a new transfer student (who looks like an anime chipmunk, I might add) to place in Dan's way, leaving Dan enamored and Serena pissed that Dan's moving on so quickly right in front of her face. Blair attempts to fic the problem by letting (read: forcing) Chipmunk to join their clique, thus making her not allowed to date Dan, as it's against the rules to date ex-boyfriends. Serena gets pissed about Blair's interference, and goes to run damage control with Dan before he goes out of control casting judgments on everyone within a ten mile radius of him. Oh, Serena, haven't you learned by this point that there's no way you can make Dan not judge you and the people around you? He judges and says they shouldn't be competitive, she mentions that she'd kick his ass if it were a competition (true facts), and we're off to the races. Dan and Chipmunk go out that night to a typical UES hot spot, get spotted by one of Gossip Girl's many eyes (read: Iz and Penelope), and thus piss everyone off. Dan and Serena confront each other again, and decide to not be awkward or hostile and try to "go back to being friends." You know, this always gets to me when some couples say this. Dan and Serena met and instantly started dating — they were never "just friends" to begin with. They don't know HOW to be "just friends." How can you go back to being something that you never were in the first place? I mean, take Eric and Donna from That '70s Show. THEY were friends before they dated. THEY are actually capable of going back to that relationship, regardless of how difficult it might be, because it actually existed in the first place. I get that Dan and Serena, despite knowing that they can't work out their differences as a couple, are not ready to completely be out of each others' lives yet, so they're clinging to this "just friends" thing for the time being. But it never works if one or both parties still has those kinds of feelings for the other. You just end up with more jealousy, hurt feelings, and drama all around.

As they attempt to be "just friends," Serena has the great (read: HORRIBLE) idea of going out to dinner that evening with Dan and Chipmunk. ........ What? Serena, are you high? Sure, friends might do that kind of thing, but how on earth can you justify in your gorgeous blond head that that could possibly turn out well? Of course, it doesn't. Dan and Chipmunk are talking about pompous smart things that Serena doesn't understand, and Serena finds a random lacrosse boy and brings him around to make Dan jealous instead. Dan calls her out on her bullshit, she gets emo about how seeing him with Chipmunk so soon after their break-up hurt, and the situation ends up just how everyone knew it would. Except Chuck, who's there at the restaurant/bar/whatever along with Penelope and Iz, makes the situation a little more interesting by putting evil ideas into little Penelope's head. He takes some concoction of blueish goo out of his shiny purple suit pocket (and no, I'm not even exaggerating about the fact that he's wearing a shiny purple suit ... It's freaking brilliant, man) and reminds Penelope of some other mean thing she did to a Danish exchange student back in the 9th grade. Penelope obviously understands this reference and proceeds to "accidentally" spill said blueish goo on the back of Chipmunk's long brown hair. The blueish goo turns out to be acidic and instantly causes some of her hair to break off and fall out. At that, Chipmunk calls it quits and peaces out on Dan and the whole scene. Dan then instantly blames Serena for the whole thing, and tells her that maybe this insane Queen Bee thing is actually who she really is. Serena turns her wrath onto Penelope and Iz, telling them that everything they do and say now has to go through her. Thus completing Chuck Bass's entire evil plan. We find out after this that he hired Chipmunk (who didn't know chunks of her hair would be falling out, but hey, at least she got paid, right?) to set all of this into effect. The next time Blair sees Serena, she's in full Queen Bitch mode, thus completely weirding Blair out.

So where was Blair this whole time, you ask? Well, as Chuck was playing his own personal game of chess with Serena and Dan, Blair has found out, thanks to Vanessa, that Lord Marcus and his step-mother Cougar-Duchess Catherine are sleeping together. How did Vanessa find this out? Well ... Vanessa is still avoiding Nate, who still wants to know why she peaced out of Blair's party so quickly last week. Vanessa says nothing and keeps trying to get out of that conversation, 'cause she's scared of Catherine's crazy. As it turns out, Catherine was tailing Nate and ends up paying a visit to Vanessa at Rufus' gallery after Nate leaves for school. She thanks Vanessa for her silence by giving her $5,000. Vanessa, who seems to get paid off a lot in this show, refuses to accept the money and goes to the apartment or wherever the Duke, Duchess and Lord Marcus are staying to return the check. Which is how she happens upon Catherine and Marcus in a make out/heavy petting session in the library. Wow, what is it about libraries that really gets Catherine off? Vanessa takes a picture with her phone (perv!), freaks out, tells Dan, who then tells her to tell Blair. Blair gets upset, naturally, and tells Vanessa to do nothing and that she'll handle it. Which she did, 'cause she's Blair. She confronted both Marcus and Catherine with her proof and negotiates and awesome deal in which they both get the fuck back to England AND pay off all of Nate's dad's bad debts in the mean time. It would have been a sweet deal had Vanessa not trusted Blair to do what she usually does and serve up people their just desserts. Vanessa ended up screwing things up by showing her pervy pictures of Marcus & Catherine to the Duke, who then ships Marcus and Catherine off anyway, which is all well and good, except that Nate's family is still in financial shit. The tables have turned for N and V, so that now suddenly he wants nothing to do with her, being that she lied to him and all. Meh, I don't think their story is over yet.

Serena and Dan? Over. Lord Marcus and Cougar Catherine? Out of the country. New drama? See you soon.

Heroes - 3.1 "The Second Coming" & 3.2 "The Butterfly Effect"

I'm thinking recapping this show is going to be hard, 'cause I really have no idea what's going on half of the time. But hey, maybe that will be the fun part, right? Right?! ... We'll just have to see. Since season 2 was so endlessly frustrating and thus disappointing in the end, what with the writers' strike ending it early, we were treated with a whopping TWO HOUR season premiere. So much happened all at the same time that I don't even know where to start! But, as I said before, I shall try my very best.

"The Second Coming" begins, as all the episodes do, with one of Mohinder's voice overs. To be honest, when shows have these voice overs (like Meredith's rasp at the beginning of Grey's Anatomy), I never listen to them. Especially in Heroes' case, where I'm trying my hardest to pay attention to every little thing on the TV to try to gain some insight into not only what's happening right now, but how every tiny detail could possibly affect some major arc in a future episode. The show is just that intense that I can't listen to the scientific overarching theme mumbo-jumbo that MoMo is blabbing on about. Put a cork in it, Mohinder!! So we begin Volume 3, "Villains," four years in the future with a facially-scarred Peter (yay!) and a brunette, vindictive Claire (boo!). Claire's trying to kill Peter, and Peter's claiming he can go back in time and fix everything. He teleports just before she shoots and goes back to the scene in Odessa at the end of the last season where Nathan's just about to announce to the world that he has special abilities and can fly. Future!Peter turns out to be the one who shoots Nathan. GASP! I should have guessed from how bow-legged Nathan's shooter was. Present!Peter starts to chase Future!Peter, and I start to have convulsions because OMG THERE ARE SO MANY MILOS ON MY TV. Present!Peter catches up with Future!Peter, but Future!Peter is too wiley for him, that rat bastard. Future!Peter decides to continue fixing the world by assuming Present!Peter's identity and trapping Present!Peter in another Special Person's body ... This Special Person also happens to be locked up deep, deep in the Company's prisons. How convenient! Everyone's favorite policeman Matt Parkman figures out something's fishy with Future!Peter dressed up as Present!Peter (as in his massive scar is gone and he's using much less product in his hair), but Future!Peter gets him out of the way by teleporting him off to a desert in the middle of Africa. Was that really necessary, Future!Peter? I'm not so sure how much I like you ...

Despite being shot multiple times, Nathan ONCE AGAIN doesn't die. Except this time it's not from a transfusion of super-special-healing blood. It's from *dun dun dun* LINDERMAN. Linderman, if you don't remember, was one of the original founding members of The Company, along with Peter & Nathan's parents, Hiro's dad, Matt's dad, Bob (Elle's dad), Adam Monroe/Takezo Kensei, and a whole slew of other people. He also was killed toward the end of Season 1 by D.L., Niki's now-deceased husband. However, Mr. Linderman has the gift of healing things/giving life, so it makes complete sense that he secretly healed himself. Before Nathan figures out how we was brought back to life, he gets out of his hospital bed, puts on his suit and walks across the street to a church to do some evangelizing and preaching about how great God is and how he's been brought back to do his bidding. Future!Peter followed Nathan into the church, fully intending on trying to kill Nathan again, but once he started in on his whole religion schtick, he goes to Nathan and puts some lovin' on him. Ahh, Peter/Nathan. Their love is so pure.

Meanwhile, Sylar finally catches up with Claire in her California home and is hell bent on acquiring her power. Which he does. The age-old question of what, exactly, Sylar does with the brains he collects is finally answered, too. Claire, with skull cap removed, brain exposed, and Sylar poking around in her head, asks him if he's going to eat it. "Eat your brain?" he responds. "Claire, that's disgusting." BRILLIANT. Not only was that a brilliant line choice, but Zachary Quinto's incredulous voice inflection and that fact that he's poking around in her head (literally) while he says that is perfect. Thank you, Tim Kring, for that entire situation. Since Claire's special power is regeneration, she doesn't die when Sylar removes her head; everything seals itself back up, and now she finds that she can't feel any pain. This causes Claire to be more emo about her power than normal, since she doesn't "feel human" any more. How many more seasons of Claire Bennett whining incessantly do I have to endure? ANSWER ME THIS, TIM KRING!

Meanwhile, Hiro and Ando are once again reunited in Japan, with Hiro now the head of his deceased father's company. And he's bored out of his mind. He stumbles upon a video of his father telling him about a vault he should definitely DEFINITELY not open 'cause it contains something that could destroy the world. Yet again. You know, this makes me wonder .. Did the original Company just come up with nine or ten world-ending plans and hide them away here and there? 'Cause DAMN the world is in danger A LOT. Hiro, of course, opens the vault and finds half of a formula (for what? who knows) that could end the world ... But just as Hiro is wondering this, it's INSTANTLY STOLEN BY A FLASH OF RED! Hiro stops time and discovers that this flash of red is none other than a kicky blond named Daphne who has the special power of SUPER SPEED. Let me tell you, I like her. She's got sass! I like sass! You go Daphne. So now that half of the world-ending formula has been stolen, Hiro and Ando have a new quest. Hiro decides to head into the future to see this "end of the world" himself, and witnesses Future!Ando (who has powers!) ZAP Future!Hiro with red electricity from his hands in order to get said formula. Hiro teleports back to present day just before the world explodes and is freaked out, understandably so. He tells Ando they have to find the formula and they're off.

Which brings us to Mohinder and Maya. Ugh, Maya. They're in Mo's apartment, Maya still beginning Mo for a cure for her power and Mo still frustrated at not being able to figure out how everything works. Maya panics and goes all black-eyed on him, which switches on the light bulb above his head. The answer to these special abilities isn't in blood, you silly goose! It's in ADRENALINE! He gets samples from a pissed off, black-eyed Maya, goes to examine it in his lab and gets all excited 'cause he's figured out how to give people powers. Maya, who hates her power, tells him that that's bad and to destroy that vial of her adrenaline, but he brushes her off. Later he injects himself with the special adrenaline, and finds that now he's SUPA STRONG!

Also, at some point we see a character that looks a lot like Niki Sanders but is not, in fact, Niki Sanders, 'cause Niki Sanders died in New Orleans in a fire. It's Tracy Strauss, and she's in politics. She's a chief adviser (and bedfellow) of a governor (of New York? Perhaps?), and has plans for getting the definitely-not-dead Nathan Petrelli back into politics. So we're going back to season 1 plot lines and pretending like season 2 didn't exist, right? Good call, Kring.

*phew* And now, the second part of the two-hour season premiere: "The Butterfly Effect." I'll try to be less verbose here, but I can't make any promises. Bear with me here!

Mama Petrelli knows that Future!Peter masquerading as Present!Peter isn't really Present!Peter. She just KNOWS. We find out her Special Power is prophetic dreams (laaame ... I still think she has a secondary one that is the power of influence, like the little elf-lookin' girl from season 1), and she tells Future!Peter that him being in the present time is fucking EVERYTHING up for the future and not fixing it like he originally intended. Apparently Sylar acquiring Claire's power wouldn't have happened had Future!Peter not meddled. Speaking of Claire, she's still being emo about not being able to feel pain. She's started making videos again of attempts to kill herself, just as she did during season 1. As she stands in front of a train, Future!Peter comes to save her, and Claire is jazzed to see him and wants help developing her powers. F!Peter freaks out about damaging the future even more than it's already damaged and bolts.

Now that Mohinder's got super powers that include climbing the wall and required lots and lots of milk, he and Maya sex each other up. While it's nice to have to sex on the show again (even though I don't enjoy shirtless Mo as much as shirtless Peter, but hey, I'll take what I can get), it involves Maya and she annoys me to no end. With Niki and Claire, we had enough whining females on this show. Did we really need to add another one? After their sex fest, Mohinder goes into the bathroom and finds that his skin is peeling off and that there's some sort of gross goo involved, too. GROSS, MOHINDER!

After being an ass to his electric-handed sociopath daughter one last time, Bob finally gets his skull opened by Sylar. Hey, now Sylar has the Midas touch! Sweet! Elle went straight to this "Level 5" everyone's been talking about, and we are taken to the lair where all of the most dangerous special people (aka the VILLAINS! And since this volume is called "Villains" and Angela Petrelli had a prophetic dream that involved a few of these villains, I'm thinking this Level 5 place is going to be pretty important plot-wise) are kept. Noah Bennett (aka HRG), a former Company man, is being kept there, too, despite the fact that he has no powers. Elle tries to get him to help her, Sylar attacks and tries to take her brain, but not before she freaks out and fries everything within a ten mile radius. This opens all the UBER SEALED VAULTS, thus freeing the villains. OH NOES! One should also note that Present!Peter is trapped in the body of Jesse, one of these guys. Everyone's favorite Angela Petrelli shows up almost immediately, declares herself the head of the Company and fires Elle for fucking everything up. Noah goes back to Cali to get all his old files and tells Claire that Elle just freed a bunch of dangerous people, whose names are Jesse, Knox, some guy who can control blue flames, and a German who has powers like Magneto. Okay, maybe I got those last two names wrong, but work with me, here! Claire, of course, whines and wants to help, but Noah isn't having any of it. And out of nowhere appears Meredith, Claire's birth mother, who Noah summoned to help control Claire. Hmm. Interesting.

Hiro and Ando are still stalking Daphne, the kicky blond, and have discovered a way to track her. They'll get that formula back soon! And hopefully Hiro will stop acting weird around Ando, whose future self killed Future!Hiro.

Governor Whoever tells Tracy-not-Niki to go get Nathan Petrelli and convince him to be junior Senator or something like that. Nathan, who sexed up Niki-Jessica in season 1, thinks she's Niki, and Tracy insists she isn't. A reporter also thinks she's Niki, and she freaks out at him and ends up FREEZING THE SHIT OUT OF HIM, causing him to crumble. Oh shit, Tracy can do messed up shit and be emo about it, too!

The episode ends with Present!Peter-Jesse trying to find Nathan and ANGELA PETRELLI TELLING SYLAR HE'S HER SON. Shit! She can't be telling the truth, can she? CAN SHE??!! .... *deep breath* If you got through all that, congratulations. That took FOREVER.

The Hills - 4.7 "While Lauren's Away..."

You know, writing about this show right after that intense Heroes session seems so very trivial. I'm tempted to say, "Nothing happened as usual the end KBYE!" ... However, I will not. Since I continue to watch this show week after week, I'll continue to recap, as hard on my brain as it might be.

As you could probably tell from the title of the episode, Lauren "goes away" for most of the episode so that shit can go down in her absence and everyone can talk it to death for the next five years. She claims she was on a vacation with her family in Italy, but I'm more inclined to believe she was at the Motel 6 down the street. In order to play along with what the show wants us to think, I'll go with the "Lauren's in Italy" story and move on. So Lauren leaves Lo and Audrina alone together, a situation I'm sure neither person is very happy about. But hey, at least they're hiding their disgust pretty well for the time being. So after Lauren leaves, Stephanie stops by the house, thus confusing Audrina (which, lets be honest, probably isn't a very hard thing to do. I'm Team Audrina all the way, don't get me wrong, but homegirl has the most dead on vacant stare I've ever seen in my life.), because Lauren's out of the country, and no one else other than Lauren really gives a crap about Stephanie. Surprise! Stephanie came to talk to Audrina about whether or not Lauren would be pissed if she went out with Dougiekins, Lauren's kind-of ex. Come on, Stephanie, use what brain you have, sweetheart. While Lauren and Doug might not have ever been officially boyfriend-girlfriend, if we've learned anything from the four seasons of this show (plus the seasons of Laguna Beach), it's that Lauren Conrad is a petty, territorial, judgmental human being. So if you sniff around someone she might have been remotely interested in at some point in her life, no matter how long ago, she's gonna be pissed. Audrina tells her, in her best Audrina way, that she should think hard about it and probably not do anything with Doug. But does Stephanie listen? Of course not. 'Cause she's a dumbass. Audrina tells Lo about Stephanie's random visit over lunch, and Lo judges accordingly. 'Cause she's Lo and that's what she does.

Audrina and Lo actually go out together that evening (or some other evening, who knows when it actually was), and WHAT DO YOU KNOW? They run into Heidi and Spencer. Lo judges, 'cause that's what she does, and Audrina greets Heidi all friendly-like right after she and Lo whisper about Heidi being there for a few minutes. Has anyone else ever noticed that whenever Heidi and Audrina see each other these days, they have the SAME conversation over and over again? They keep telling each other, "It's so great to see you! We used to have fun together! We were friends way before all this shit went down with Lauren! There's no reason why we shouldn't be friends now, the drama's not between us!" I mean, okay, WE GET IT. So just BE FRIENDS again instead of telling each other all the time that she should be friends. Heidi invites Audrina (and Justin) to some other event the next evening, and Audrina obliges. Lo judges, 'cause that what she does. Audrina and Heidi go out the next night, and the literally have the same conversation about why there's no reason they shouldn't hang out AGAIN. Oh, and Spencer liked the new Batman movie.

Predictably, Stephanie and Doug go to dinner. But it seems like kind of a bust 'cause the only thing they talk about is how pissed Lauren is going to be and how they shouldn't tell anyone and whatnot. Out of nowhere, Brody's mom shows up, thus letting both us and them know that their little secret date wasn't going to stay a secret for long. Obviously Brody's mom told Brody who would (and did) relay the whole thing to Lauren.

Upon Lauren's return, she learns that Audrina and Heidi hung out and Stephanie and Doug went out and is obviously pissed. Oh, poor Lauren. It really is hard being you, isn't it?

And here we are again, in the zip code that is getting its ass kicked by Gossip Girl and the whole Upper East Side of New York City in general. Okay, perhaps I am a little biased 'cause GG is such an amazing show, and this one, which is tame in comparison, is still trying to find itself. I'm just STILL bored! I don't know how much more of this I can take, as I find myself not caring about any of the new characters. I already have one show that I watch and hate at the same time (read: The Hills) .. Do I really need another one? ..... Nevertheless, I'll continue.

This week is all about S-E-X and whether or not Annie and Ty are gonna do the freakynaughty. The opening of the play they're all in, Spring Awakening, is coming up and everyone, including director Brenda, is all in a tizzy during the intense rehearsals. Our darling Annie has a spot in the chorus, but is also the understudy for the lead role, normally played by Adrianna, the girl that was buying drugs and stealing shit in the pilot episode and not seen since. Hmm .. It's funny that the play is about coming of age/losing your virginity (in the Victorian era? I've honestly not seen it, just read about it here and there) and seems to exactly mirror our darling Annie's life at this moment. Smooth one, writers! Real smooth!

The main drama, other than the suspense of the possibly-maybe Annie/Ty hook-up at the opening nigh after party, has to do with drugged up Adrianna. All the faculty seems to be worried about her and knows that something's not right. Brenda, Kelly and hot-teacher-Ryan Matthews have a pow wow, and Brenda says she'll talk to/deal with Adrianna. Take her under your wing, Brenda! Adrianna stops being a coked-up bitch for five seconds, takes a liking to Brenda, and decides to temporarily stop sabotaging herself and actually work on the show like everyone else. That is, until, we meet Adrianna's mother and discover that she's a complete Dina Lohan show-mother, and emphasizes over and over again how important the show is that night and HOW MANY agents are coming and just heaping the pressure to not screw up on Adrianna's head. So that's why Adrianna's been turning to drugs! Well after that pressure-filled conversation with her mother, Adrianna turns back to her beloved pills and goes AWOL right before the show. Meaning ANNIE gets to play the lead in the opening! Adrianna gets pissed and then gets Annie back in an awful way. How does she do this, you ask? By pretending that she and Ty had sex at the after party when Annie was fully intending to cash in her v card ... This makes poor Annie cry and now she's confused about her place and Beverly Hills and what that godforsaken place is doing to her morals.

That was the main story .. Naomi and her mom had some more drama, but it wasn't worth anything. So there! It's done! And I'm washing my hands of this damn show until further notice!

America's Next Top Model - 11.5 "Fierce Eyes"

Oh, this episode is so, so bittersweet. Tyra and her brain trust really threw us for a loop this week and eliminated not one, but two wannabe models. Now, she's done this before (like the time in cycle 4 when she snapped and yelled at one of the eliminated models), but never like this. Instead of up and sending to girls home at panel at the end of the episode, one girl was eliminated due to poor performance in the challenge and another at panel. I held my breath throughout the episode that she'd spring some lame fine print on us and have one girl not actually go home, but she stuck to her word — two girls went home. Which two were they? Well, that's why it's so bittersweet. Lets get on with the recap and I'll get to it!

The teach this week is all about the runway, which always makes for interesting learning scenarios. This season the girls went to a bowling alley (complete with HOT bowling shoe-ish pumps that I so want) and J. Alexander gave them walking pointers and delivered the funny with his versions of models' (namely Hannah's) heinous walks. God, I love him. Never change, Miss J! After such a teach, the only sensible challenge can be some sort of runway show. Our trusty band of models-in-training were given the task of walking in a Jeremy Scott runway show (in some jacked up looking clothes, let me say) partially blindfolded. I say partially because their eyes were fully covered, but with material they could see through only the slightest bit. No models fell off the runway as predicted, but the highlights included McKey walking with a big ass curtain rod in her shoulders, Hannah walking like the tin man, and Samantha lifting her dress at the end of the runway, much to everyone's chagrin. Due to her robot-needing-wd40 walk, Hannah was sent home mid-episode. HUZZAH! NO MORE TALK ABOUT ALASKA! We get enough of that from Sarah Palin, so I don't need it from my favorite crap TV show, too.

With Hannah out of our hair, we move on to the photo shoot. It's one of the more interesting ones that's been done, in my opinion ... It's done in water, and the girls are to pose with only half of their face out of the water. Therefore, the intensity in the eyes (or "fierce eyes" as we can gather from the episode title) is the key. Our girls get insane hair and makeup (only eye makeup, obviously) and GO AT IT! Isis, Joslyn, and Elina all choke, while Lauren Cheddar (Err ... Brie), Clark, Samantha, and Analeigh (yayyy!) all turn it out. The creepy part of the episode? The semi-naughty things that Nigel Barker (who was photographing them, by the way) was saying to some of the girls. I mean, I'd love Nigel Barker to talk dirty to me while wearing a wet shirt, don't get me wrong, but in this setting his bedroom talk in the pool was just mildly creepy. Also, I still can't decide who he has a creepy crush on this season ... My guesses were Lauren Brie and Clark, based on the way he was talking to them in the pool, but I think I'll have to study his undressing-with-eyes looks over the next few weeks to make an informed decision.

Much to my surprise, the judges' favorite picture this week was Clark's. Bleccch, I don't know why .. Clark is stank! And sadly, Isis was sent home. Don't lose faith, Isis! You rock!

Project Runway - 5.11 "Rock 'N Runway"

As tempted as I am to write, "Kenley designed something ugly and yet STILL DID NOT GET SENT HOME" and leave it at this for this episode, I will not. You dedicated readers deserve more than that, after all! This week on PR, our five remaining designers (Jerrell, Leanne, Korto, Suede & Kenley) were given the task of designing looks FOR EACH OTHER inspired by a particular genre of music. Does anyone else see the theme this season of jacking ideas from past seasons of America's Next Top Model? 'Cause Tyra totally did a Zodiac photo shoot back in Cycle 4 and did a music genre photo shoot in cycle 10. I realize that Tyra isn't the originator of those ideas, but still the similarities are there. Hmm ... Is the PR brain trust getting lazy? Regardless, the design challenge they chose for this episode yielded some interesting results.

As for who was designing for whom, here's the breakdown: Leanne did a country outfit for Korto; Korto did a punk outfit for Suede, Suede did a rock 'n roll outfit for Jerell; Jerrell did a pop outfit for Kenley; and Kenley (vomit) did a hip-hop outfit for Leanne. The results were, as previously stated, interesting, to say the least. Leanne did a great job with Korto, I though. The outfit wasn't the most loud, costumey country thing she could have done, but it looked the part and looked very nice on Korto. Korto did an AMAZING job with Suede's punk look, especially given she had no idea what to do and had never done menswear before. Suede did okay with Jerrell, even though he made him look the way Jerrell always does. Perhaps a little more Lenny Kravitzed up ... But still, Jerrell looks very nice normally, so Suede really could have done a lot worse. Jerrell's transformation of Kenley was AMAZING. Kenley actually looks really pretty without that god awful red lipstick; she's also not hard to handle when she keeps her mouth shut. Which is never. Kenley's hip-hop outfit? HEINOUS. The pants were unflattering, the leather jacket looked like it could fit an American Girl doll, and she didn't seem to get that piling on as much gold jewelry as you can get your hands on does not equal hip hop. I will say, though, that Korto & Jerrell's strategy at keeping their mouths shut and just letting Kenley and her head that was placed firmly in her own ass screw herself over. Their reactions to her interpretation of hip-hop were priceless.

In the end, though, it was Suede that got the axe. So I have to deal with freakin' Kenley for yet another week. Pffffft!

The Office - 5.1 "Weight Loss"

Forgive me for the huge picture, but I just COULD NOT FREAKING RESIST! This entire episode was just the absolute perfect way to kick off the fifth season of one of the best shows on television. THANK YOU, OFFICE CREATORS! You've made your fans very, very happy. :) Now on with the recap!

So this episode, unlike most others, takes place over the course of several weeks, as opposed to one day or several days as most other Office episodes are. The plot line tying all the subplots together is that of the Dunder Mifflin inter-branch summer weight loss contest, a la Biggest Loser. The staff was weighed as a whole once a week and the branch that lost the most weight as a whole was rewarded with three extra vacation days. As you can imagine, some people took this more seriously than others ... In the end, the Scranton branch didn't end up winning the contest (they lost to Utica, Jim's ex-girlfriend Karen Fillipelli's branch), but there were a lot of amusing antics along the way.

First we have the Michael Scott/Holly Flax dynamic. Holly is new HR rep in the Scranton branch that took Toby's place in the last episode of season 4, played by Amy Ryan. Holly is essentially a female Michael, which isn't as scary as I would have originally thought. She's awkward, geeky, adorable, and the most perfect match for Michael that could ever be conceived. However, Michael's got a few things standing between him & perfect, everlasting happiness with Holly. One is himself — he has a hard time not effing things up. It's just his nature. The other is Jan, his candle maker pregnant ex-girlfriend who is a completely psycho. Boundaries or not, it's obvious to everyone who's not Holly or Michael that those two are crazy about each other ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something ends up happening before Amy Ryan's run on the show ends.

And then we have Andy/Angela/Dwight ... The most awkward love triangle that has ever existed. God, I don't even know what to say about their antics in this episode. Angela is engaged to Andy while still having feelings for AND sleeping with Dwight. In any other show, this would be the cause of much angst for all the characters involved, but in this setting, the writers manage to make this whole weird situation extremely comical. Andy is trying his hardest plan the wedding, but Angela keeps shooting down all of his ideas, the last of which is the performance of Andy's college acapella group, "Here Comes Treble." Every time he brings up something wedding related and she makes the conversation difficult, she pages Dwight, who meets her down in a closet in the paper warehouse for some freakynaughty. It's going to be reaaalllly awkward when Andy finds out about all of that .. And I think we'll probably see the return of pre-Anger Management Andy. Yesss!

Guess who's back? RYAN FREAKIN' HOWARD! Since B.J. Novak is still in the title credits, I knew Ryan would have to be in the show in some way, shape or form, but I didn't quite predict that he'd be back like this. After being shown being escorted off to prison at the end of season 4, we have Ryan returning to the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin as a temp, once again. This time he's filling in for Pam, who was off at art school for the summer. Oh, Ryan ... I've never quite figured out how I felt about him. I mean, I can't figure out if his whole douche bag thing is just some sort of facade or if he actually is just a jerk. I really want to give him the benefit of the doubt and say his cool, jerky exterior is masking some sort of inner pain or insecurity, but I'm pretty sure the writers/producers picture Ryan as just a jerk. Nevertheless, it's great to see him knocked down a few pegs and back down to temping as a receptionist, though it's totally not believable that he'd be allow to work for the same company he helped screw over with his fraud charges. But hey, that's what TV is for! Suspending belief for the sake of continuity and plot! Ryan goes around the office apologizing to people and has started a quest to win his ex-girlfriend, Kelly Kapoor, back. Hmm ... We'll see how that ends up going for him. I like those two crazy kids together.

And now the best part of this episode — JIM AND PAM ARE ENGAGED! The whole episode was tense, what with Pam being gone and Jim being frustrated at not being able to go to New York to see her as often as he would like. His solution? To meet at a rest stop between New York and Scranton and propose right on the spot. In the rain. Ahhh, it was so perfect and SO unexpected. I mean really, I don't think anyone saw it coming! I was so afraid that they were going to break up and that this season would be filled with more PB&J angst. But no more!

So there you have it, kids. This late, late issue of your Weekly TV Wrap-up. Forgive me! I will not be this late in getting this to you again. Enjoy!

This is kind of random, so I'll try to keep this short and to the point: I love Heroes. Seriously, that TV show is amazing.

The most recent episode aired yesterday, but I was busy, and this is the first chance I'm getting to write about it.

There is so much to say about Hereos in general, and about the last episode, but I think it pretty much comes down to one basic idea: Peter Petrelli is the hottest hero in the history of Heroes.

He really is. If you don't believe me, person reading this (or not, more likely), check it out. Rent one of the previous seasons or look him up on YouTube, and you'll see how right I am.

This is that last thing I'll say, though I could go on for pages about Peter Petrelli (and it's not just the character - Milo Ventimiglia is hot in real life, too). Since no one is (probably) reading this, I'm posting the links to some pictures for myself that showcase Peter's (Milo's) hotness. Also, watch Heroes. Really. You won't be disappointed, I promise.

3.04 I Am Become Death

Peter and Matt see the future and it's not great but it's very cool.

Remember this will be a SPOILER review. Click read more for the review.

Now this is more like it, this is where we need to be Heroes. Yes this episode was completely stupid but my god wasn't it entertaining rubbish. Heroes is a show which will have dips in quality, it doesn't always have the best writing or the best acting but what I want most from this show is to entertain me. Season 2 for the most part didn't entertain me at all, though I'm not going to continue bashing season 2, everything has been said.

This whole episode really was seen from two different perspectives, Peter and Matt. Peter was brought to the future by Future Peter and Matt used that wacky paste stuff to see the future. Though wasn't the future interesting? This new future now has nearly everyone with powers, everyone flying around would be awesome. People wouldn't need cars, it would already be saving the Ozone layer so people are actually saving the world, so that's a good thing.

This episode shows that the present really is boring and that this dystopia future is what we should be seeing from this show. We all know that this future will be changed again and another one will replace it which probably will be worse but I hope that doesn't happen. I want to see a world in which people know that certain humans have powers. It brings in so many interesting themes which have been seen through X-Men's history. Though this season started out because the future in which people knew some had powers was a shit place to live. So we have this world in which powers are available to anyone and it's shit again. Are the writers telling us that from now on that the world will never know that certain people have these abilities? It seems if they do then the past must be changed to change the future.

While it was entertaining and I was sucked into it, now that I'm reviewing it I'm going to start nitpicking but I'll only address one thing and that's these dystopian futures. Now we don't know how many seasons this show will go on for but is every season going to contain these dystopian futures that must be changed? I'm hoping the writers will come out and say that you may change the past but the future will always find a way to become these fucked up places. It seems inevitable that there will always be Heroes and Villains, if humans have these extraordinary powers then some will use it for evil and there's nothing you can change in the past to change this.

I've spoken about my issues with time travel. I love time travel as a story device, I'm a sucker for time travel stories, I've written a few myself. If it's used correctly then it's wonderful to see, Lost is a recent example of how to use time travel and not be stuck with the complexities of it. Once this episode finishes another future would be created, the future we just saw in this episode has changed. Present Peter now has Sylar's original power which Future Peter we saw never did. Now how this effects this future we've seen is unknown, though it seems that it will be the key to rectifying this dystopian future.

The problem I have most with the whole time travel aspect is Future Peter. The Future Peter who was shot came from the timeline in which Nathan told the world that people had powers. Now technically it's a paradox when Future Peter shoots Nathan because this should erase his existence, so how could he go back in time and change the future he lived in. Now when this happened, I accepted it, paradoxes will occur. Though to counter that argument, you could say that this new future was changed around this Future Peter from the other timeline but he still had memories of the future in which Nathan told the world about people with powers. I'm hoping one day we'll meet Caitlin, remember her? The Irish bint that was left in that future of season 2. Well this theory would apply to her, this future would change around her but she should still have all the memories of what happened to her. I'm really starting to nitpick at this and while I had lots to say, I think I'm getting too involved with it. This episode entertained the fuck out of me and never once got me thinking about the possible paradoxes, which is great.

I really have to say, how awesome was Future Sylar? Good and with kid, though it got dark when they killed the kid off. Brave move and I loved it and Sylar was really pissed. My money is Elle being the mother, no one else really I can come up with which would be suitable. Plus also a mention for the end, loved it, good to have you back Kensei. This has been a long review and the show has started to give me great stuff to write, which is awesome.

Quote of the episode: Adam "Hiro, you son of a bi..."

Favourite Scene: Sylar going KABOOM.

We know Peter has acquired Clair's ability to heal. So, how can he die from gunfire? Does he have to consciously activate all acquired powers (i.e., only his own original power is automatic)? And, why does the future Peter have a huge scar across his face if he has the power to heal? Clair has received substantial damage and shows no sign of scarring.

Besides the need for grammar in the title (I'm aware it's a reference, but I don't care), it was a cool episode. I decided not to do a scene by scene recap this week because Heroes likes to story hop around a lot. You can find fairly detailed synopsises here: Chapter One, Chapter Two and Chapter Three. Many of the episodes actually have transcripts or you can just watch it online, legally even. Anyways here’s my recap:

Mohinder Suresh and Maya Herrara

Mohinder is keeping a record of his mutation: “There are a few adverse reactions.” He mentions getting a rash. He then hears the neighbours having a marital dispute and goes and beats the husband. I think he’s becoming a “beast.”

Later on Maya complains that his lab is a mess and she wants to go for a walk in the park. Mohinder gets upset at her because he’s trying to work and then tries to apologize like he’s some abusive boyfriend stereotype.

“The formula is transforming me.” Mohinder tells his tape that he cannot remove abilities. That angry husband then shows up and hits Mohinder, but Mohinder fights back and maybe kills him (they don’t show the rest).

Nathan Petrelli and Tracy Strauss

Linderman is still in Nathan’s head so to speak, trying to tell him which desk to pick. Linderman wants Nathan to become President.

We find Tracy still talking to Dr. Zimmerman. She and he identical sisters had their DNA manipulated. He mentions trying to give the babies speed and strength (He totally says Bobba, but I'm sure he means Barbara). She asks him who he worked for and Dr. Zimmerman tells her there’s a company, but they took his memory. She then gets angry at him and she almost freezes him.

Later Tracy tries to confess to the murder of the reporter (c’mon it was an accident really), but she gets emotional and freezes the phone (lol). Tracy then goes to Nathan and resigns. Linderman tells Nathan to help her. Good thing he did because she tries to commit suicide by jumping off a building. Of course, Nathan catches. Tracy talks to Nathan about his power and shows him hers. She then starts making out with him. Four years in the future Nathan is President and is married to Tracy!

Peter Petrelli and Peter Petrelli

Future Peter takes present Peter four years into the future. Everyone has powers (Flying is a popular one). Peter tells Peter: “They think I’m an extremist, a villain” and that they must stop everyone from getting powers (by stopping the formula from being used). Peter then tells Peter that “Not all of us were born with abilities, some of us were made.” (I assumed he means people like Niki, not the new people with powers) They have taken sides and now are fighting some secret (-ish) war. Then future Claire shows up and shoots future Peter, but doesn’t get present Peter. They take him to a facility where we find out that Daphne is working with Claire and so is Knox? They want to find Present(Past?) Peter to stop him from enacting future Peter’s plans. To find him they’re going to use Molly, (who I assume will be played by another actress). Parkman still has Molly and a new baby. Daphne’s baby?! She’s married to Parkman?! He initially refuses to let Molly find Peter, but eventually gives in. (Molly is played by the same actress, so she hasn’t grown very much in 4 years... maybe she has a secondary power to stay a little girl...) Daphne tells Claire that Peter is in Casa Verde (Claire used to live there). Knox senses that Claire is scared of Peter.

The after fleeing from the future Claire, Peter finds Mohinder (still in his same apartment...) in the future so that he can find Sylar. Mohinder’s skin is monster-like and he refuses to tell Peter, while he mumbles about getting the super power formula wrong. Peter reads his mind to get the Sylar info and teleports to the Casa Verde. With blue fire ready he enters Sylar’s house and a boy greets him like he knows him. Turns out Sylar is making waffles and has a son! His name is Noah! Sylar hugs peter like they’re friends. Later Sylar tells him that they’re brothers and now goes Gabriel! For some reason Peter thinks he needs Sylar’s ability to “understand the variables.” Gabriel initially refuses, but after painting the future decides to help. Gabriel starts training Peter to use his (initial) power and Peter eventually gets it (now he can fix any watch!) Then Claire, Daphne and Knox show up with Gabrielle’s son as a hostage. Peter knocks out Claire and the rest start fighting. Little Noah dies as collateral after a blow from Knox hits Gabriel into him! (wouldn’t have happened if Noah was scared...) With the death of his son, Sylar starts going radiation super-nova and nukes them all.

Later Future Claire has present Peter back at the facility (future Peter is still unconscious). 200 000 people died in Costa Verde and she’s upset. She begins torturing Peter for it. President Nathan shows up. He tells Claire to leave. Nathan releases Peter and lets him read his mind to try and convince him. Peter then tries to understand Nathan and gets sort of crazy. He starts going all Sylar on him with the head cutting, but stops before he kills him and goes back to the present day Level 5. He attacks Sylar and wants to understand his hunger. (So, the guy who can read minds and absorb powers for some reason feels the need to look at their brains)

Matt Parkman

He eats some drug paste and then listens to some music and his eyes go white. During his vision he apparently feels like he is in the future (but he doesn’t actually control anything). The vision of the future starts off with him and Molly watching the Costa Verde disaster. Daphne returns. She says that she “wasn’t fast enough” and we see that her back is all fleshy from the disaster (just like the African guy’s painting). Back in the present, Parkman decides that he is going to find the girl named Daphne (if he can catch her), but the African guy (his name is Usutu if your wondering) says Parkman needs to finish his spirit quest and to do so he must find a totem to act as his spirit guide. Clearly his spirit guide is the turtle (ironic since Daphne is his future wife)

Hiro and Ando

They are stuck in Level 5. Hiro thinks he can escape through the vent (seriously?...). Ando gets upset and they have a fight because that’s all they do now. Eventually Ando manages to open the vent without Hiro’s help, but then helps Hiro get up to the vent while Hiro apologizes to him. The Haitian then shows up as Hiro makes it to the top. (I'm sure the Haitian was just outside anyways since Hiro probably tried teleporting first...)

Later, Angela confronts Hiro and Ando about the formula that can give anyone powers (oh so this is what causes the horrible horrible semi-utopia of the future). She convinces Hiro to dig up Adam. Hiro and Ando do it and as they open the coffin Adam grabs him: “Hiro you son of a bitc---.”

End Credits

(no voice over! And no Noah Bennet or present day Claire storylines! Weird... but so unexpectedly nice)

Heroes has reached near cult status in certain circles, so the question of whether or not to give up

Heroes has reached near cult status in certain circles, so the question of whether or not to give up on it at the beginning of its third season is probably near-blasphemous to its die-hard fans. However, I can't be counted among the most faithful viewers. I was ready to quit watching after the first season, but then they had to go and hire David Anders for an ongoing role. I couldn't abandon my favorite villain (Sark from Alias). So, here I am, posing the same question I did last year around this time: should I stay or should I go? This time around, I have compiled the pros and cons of continuing to watch the show:

Pros

David Anders is still on the show - This is really a weak starting point, since he has yet to appear this season. Adam, the eternally young mastermind of ethically questionable deeds, is still trapped in an underground prison, which is where the normally sweet Hiro left him in a particularly disturbing act of revenge at the end of last season. Why take one of the best actors on the show and literally bury his talents? Based on a synopsis of an upcoming episode, he'll be back on top of the ground soon, but will it be soon enough to hold my attention?

The premise is always fascinating - Even before this show aired its first episode, I was highly intrigued by the concept of ordinary people discovering that they have extraordinary abilities, and I looked forward to seeing whether they would use those abilities for good or evil. So my issues are not with the premise, but with the execution of that premise (see my cons list, where I will list my gripes in detail.)

There's nothing better to watch on Monday nights - I despise the so-called comedy of "Two and a Half Men," I am highly irritated by the hype surrounding Dancing with the Stars, and as I've mentioned here before, I gave up on Prison Break long ago. But maybe I should just skip tv-watching on Mondays and read a book instead.

Peter and Sylar are interesting characters - It's hard to wrap my head around these two guys' abilities. Peter's ability is that he can absorb any ability; Sylar has the ability to "steal" any ability, and since he stole Peter's ability, he now can also absorb any ability. Right? Wait, then why does he still cut people's head's open? Okay, so the narrative isn't perfectly clear, but it's fun to see which talents these two will pull out of their hat when the need arises.

The music is pretty cool - I like how the show has maintained the same musical themes since season one. The music has the right blend of mystery, creepiness, and epic.

The special effects are impressive - There's no arguing that the special effects department gets it right on this show. They make all of our heroes' abilities look real, most notably Hiro's ability to stop time. Every week the highlights of the episode revolve around what spectacle we behold on the screen, as we wonder how they did it.

Cons

There are too many characters - Claire, HRG, Sylar, Peter, Nathan, Hiro, Ando, Nikki, Matt, Mohinder, Mrs. Petrelli, and that annoying kid who manipulates machines. That would be enough right there. Then last year they added Molly (did we really need another annoying kid? At least they've shipped her off this season), Maya and her brother, Claire's boyfriend Peter Pan, Elle and her father, the annoying kid's "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" cousin (will they bring her up again?), blah blah blah. It's nearly impossible to keep track of all of them, and usually I don't even care to. Honestly, I am most interested in Claire, HRG, Sylar, Peter, Hiro, and Ando. I see the others as filler.

The plot is too convoluted - I like a show with a complex plot (aka Lost, Battlestar Galactica), but I also appreciate it when a show's various plots carry over from season to season and have some sort of continuity and/or resolution. I don't think we get that with Heroes. There's always some new plot to destroy the world, but usually about the time crisis is (easily) averted, a new plot of destruction is already waiting in the wings. Will we ever have an answer about the future in which Adam's virus killed most of the population? I assume since the vial was destroyed last season we're to think that it didn't happen. But what about Peter's Irish girlfriend who got trapped in that future? What happened to her? And what about in season one when we saw Sylar as Nathan as President in another future? Was that averted as well? The writers are playing with "the future can be changed" motif too freely, resulting in lackluster plot arcs. If one simple act can readjust a chaotic future, then why should we be so concerned about the latest villain and his evil plans? Currently, we have Hiro and Ando (and another unnecessary new character) chasing after two parts of a dangerous formula that "must be protected at all costs." That sounds awfully similar to the virus from last season. And then there's Mohinder working on a formula that would give everyone the ability to develop a special ability. That sounds similar to what happened on The 4400 two seasons ago. Bottom line: there are too many lose ends for my taste.

Maya is unbearable - This "don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry and my eyes bleed black gook and kill you" character was by far my least favorite of last season. So I was thrilled when she was presumably killed by Sylar. Unfortunately, she wasn't really dead, and now we have to suffer through a telenovela-style romance between her and the newly buff, super strong, and scabby Mohinder. I know the introduction of new characters is sometimes necessary to move the plot along, but couldn't the writers at least make them interesting or likable?

There is no finality in death - Most shows use the "is he or isn't he dead" cliffhanger from time to time, but Heroes abuses this to the extreme. I no longer question whether they've really killed someone off; instead, I wonder when we will see them again. Let's take a look at the characters that have been "killed" on this show, only to show up soon after alive and kicking: Sylar, Peter, Nathan, Nikki, HRG, Maya, etc. I am sure I am forgetting some. Were this limited to the occasional hero, I wouldn't have a problem with it. One reason superheroes are super is that they aren't easy to kill - they bounce back. But is it necessary to revive characters that weren't interesting in the first place? At least, it seems, Nikki actually died in that fiery explosion last season, and this season's Tracy is one of several clones created by the same doctor. This is bad news for me, though, since I don't care for Ali Larter's performance on this show. Apparently, there will be an endless supply of new characters for her to play as the writers get tired of the previous one.

Matt Parkman is not an interesting character - The ability to read minds? Interesting. The guy who is able to do this? Not interesting. So far this season, my interest wanes the most when we see Matt on his spirit walk in Africa. It's even worse than last season when he and Mohinder were playing "my two dads" to little Molly. I liked Greg Grunberg just fine on Alias, and he was perfectly cast way back when on Felicity, but I just don't find him compelling in this role.

The acting (or is it the writing?) is often bad - If I sat down and watched Lost or 24, and then I immediately watched an episode of Heroes, there would be a clear difference in the quality of the acting and writing. Much of the time, I just don't buy the emotion, fear, intensity, and resolve of these heroes. It's like they are going through the motions, or reading through the script. If Jack Bauer paid a visit to Peter Petrelli, he would tell the boy to snap out of his daze and toughen up for the fight. The only person who shows genuine determination is HRG. He just may be my favorite character on the show, and he is played perfectly by Jack Coleman.

Hiro isn't as funny as he used to be - During the first season, I appreciated the comic relief that Hiro brought to the otherwise grim landscape. And in season 2, I was mostly interested in Hiro's story because it involved David Anders' character. So far in season three, Hiro and Ando's "follow that formula" hasn't moved beyond slapstick shtick. The wide-eyed stares, the shoulder shrugs, the offering of popcorn to the silent Haitian when he foiled their escape. You would expect more gusto from a guy who was sadistic enough to bury someone alive.

Angela Petrelli isn't a compelling villain - Season one Mrs. Petrelli was nothing more than Peter and Nathan's loving mother. Season two we discovered that she was part of the axis of questionable motives. In the season three premiere, it was revealed that she is an evil mastermind who gave up Sylar for adoption and now plans to use his psychotic tendencies to her advantage. I'm not sure we've had enough of an explanation to make this leap. For one thing, I would think that Sylar falls somewhere in between Nathan and Peter's ages. Wouldn't they have noticed if Mama was walking around pregnant? I'm hoping there will be more to the story.

So, there it is. I came up with six "pros" and eight "cons." I guess that means I'm leaning toward dropping this show from my weekly must-see list. Maybe I will watch another week or two and see if the season grows on me. But I'm not feeling very compelled. Any enthusiastic fans reading this want to give me some more reasons to stick around?

Bundan sonra eğer bir aksilik olmazsa bölüm özetlerini benim yani Lonelyhero'nun elinden okuyacaksınız. Umarım istediğiniz gibi bir özet okursunuz. SPOİLER içerir...

İlk sahne Claire'in annesiyle konuşmasıyla açılır.

Maya, Isaac Mendez'in çatı katına gelip Mohinder'ı arar.

Elle'in kendisini ve Şirket'in tekrar hüsrana uğrayacağı bir göreve getirilmesini istemediğini söyler.

Noah Sylar'a ateş eder ama öldüremez çünkü Sylar Claire'i öldürmüştür.Sylar Noah'ı fırlatıp Elle'in yanına gider.Jesse ise Sylar'ın bunu yapmaması gerektiğini haykırır.Sylar Elle'in kafasını keserken Elle Şirket'in elektrik devrelerini bozar ve hainler kaçar.

Elle Şirket'teyken yanına Angela gelir ve Şirket'in başına onun geçtiğini söyler.Elle yüzünden bir düzine kötünün kaçtığını söyler ve Elle'i işinden çıkartır.Elle'in babasının ısrarlarıyla Şirket'te kaldığını belirtir.

Kaçan kötüleri annesine sorar ve Peter'ı Jesse'in içine hapsettiğini söyler.Angela Future Peter'ın arkasından hemen oğlunu bulması için bağırır ve geldiği yere geri dönmesini ister.

Jesse telefonla Nathan'a mesaj bırakır.(Burada Jesse'in içinde şimdiki Peter'ın olduğunu görüyoruz.)Kendisine benzeyen birinin olduğundan bahseder.

This episode was really good, so many wonderful moments in it and some interesting developments. The main highlights of the episode were Hiro/Ando and Noah/Sylar. So many funny moments between these two pairings. Firstly Hiro and Ando went on search for Speedster Daphne to get back the forumula she stole of them. There they encounter the Haitian, who is acquiring the second half of the formula. They manage to steal the formula of him but not before Daphne comes and steals it from them. For me Hiro and Ando are the best things on Heroes, they really should be given more screentime, it's such a huge mistake on the writers not to give them more to do.

At the end of last weeks episode we found out that Sylar could be Angela Petrelli's son, well it seems that he is which I'm not too sure what to make of. Anyway she pairs her son up with Noah to hunt down the Level 5 escapee's and bring them back. Hilarity ensures for a short time as Noah and Sylar star in their own buddy cop film, with Sylar berating an officer and demanding decaf. Sadly it seems that this partnership might not last as Sylar's hunger got the better of him. Though I'm glad that he did kill because you can't just quit cold turkey instantaneously.

Tracy Strauss goes to New Orleans to search for Niki Sanders but finds that she has died. She meets Micah and learns of his ability which he uses to find out that Tracy and Niki were born in the same hospital and on the same day, twins? Sort of, because he tracks down the doctor who delivered her and apparently Tracy was created by him. Though will the formula have been used to create Tracy and the rest of them? How many of them are there out there?

Meanwhile Matt is on his spirit walk in Africa and finds out the guy he's with paints the future like Issac once did. Though now Matt's future has changed and by the looks of it, not for the better. The other story going on in this episode was Claire wanting to learn to fight. So her real mother taught her some life lessons. Claire was quite annoying within this episode and it's obvious the path she's going to lead down. But an episode where Hayden sweats and looks extremely hot cannot bother me at all.

I'm really liking where this season is going. These past three episodes have been a great start and much better than season 2. I still have hope and I enjoy the show for the entertainment purposes it provides. It's not always the most well written show and last week's episodes showed that but as long as they tighten up the story and get the time travelling aspects right then we could all be in for a treat.

Quote of the episode: Sylar "We're going to need some coffee. Decaf. You drink decaf, don't you Noah?"

Favourite Scene: Sylar being all FBI agent and asking for coffee.

Heroes Episode 0303:

"And as the search for self continues, we look for answers everywhere. In nature, in God, in tiny tragedies that may never be understood. But still, we are driven to it, single minded, on one goal to find our purpose on this Earth. No matter what the ramification, the friendships that may be hurt, or the deals with the Devil that we have to make." -Mohinder Suresh, Heroes E303.

SPOILER ALERT!

In this episode, several things unfold. Sylar is now kept in a level 5 holding cell in Primatech. Angela Peterilli reveals (claims?) that she is the mother of Sylar. She then "feeds" him a new power, reading the history of anyone. He is then commissioned as an agent, and the temporary partner of Noah. They then go on to kill/capture some of the baddies that escaped previously.

On Claire's end, she is revealed to be emotionally scarred by what Sylar had done to her. She wants to exact revenge upon Sylar by killing him. She ends up running away with a box of data from Primatech.

Peter, on the other hand, is repelled out from the body of Jesse, to be whisked away by Future Peter to whereabouts unknown.

Our good friend Hiro, tracks down his nemesis Daphne. He then tries to retrieve the formula off the Haitian, but in the process, knocks him cold, and as a result, has the formula stolen by Daphne. The Haitian promptly awakes, catches them and puts them in a Level 5 Detention cell.

Tracey Strauss now attempts to look into her powers, and tracks it down to someone called Zimmerman. It is revealed that she was created by him.

When I was studying art history, I read a treatise on painting by Leon Battista Alberti, and subsequ

When I was studying art history, I read a treatise on painting by Leon Battista Alberti, and subsequently wrote a paper about the major principles. One of the sections of the treatise discussed the appropriate number of figures for a painting to have. Alberti didn't like to see more than nine figures in a painting; and this became a staple of many of the paintings produced during the Italian Renaissance. But is there a character limit in a story?

The answer is that it depends on your plot. However, too many main characters, at least if they're all introduced at once, will certainly confuse at least most of your readers. When considering stories with a great many characters, I like to consider Harry Potter, which certainly has more than a dozen important characters, each with their own plot lines. Yet, because Rowling introduces them over the course of seven books, these introductions are not overwhelming.

Consider Tolkein's trilogy, The Lord of the Rings. There are nine main characters, really, in the fellowship (did Tolkein perhaps read Alberti's treatise and apply it to his story? Or did it just work out that way?) Even aside from those nine, there are others, but their story lines or plots are not as prominent as Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Boromir, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin.

The important thing when it comes to the number of characters in your story is that no two characters fulfill the same purpose. If they do, one of them is expendable and should be removed from the main stage. That's not to say you have to delete that character altogether, but if they perform the same purpose as another main character, your reader won't be sure who to devote attention to in regard to that specific purpose or niche in the plot.

Things can go the other way too. Be careful not to have too few characters. Remember that one character is rarely responsible for every turn of events, so even if they have as many super powers as Peter Petrelli on Heroes (note he's not the only character on that show even though he has just about every power), you need other characters to develop plot.

It's Monday! That means that "Heroes" continues its storyline tonight! I love that show. It's a classic good verses evil show. You have Peter Petrelli battling Sylar, the ultimate bad guy. This season's current volume is titled "Villains" and I'm very excited! The villains were always my favorite, especially in the Disney cartoons.

The idea of someone having added abilities and care for humankind is an exciting concept. We've had our share of superheroes. We've had the original superhero, Superman, and we've had obscure ones, too, like in the movie Mystery Men.

Throughout the course of history, we've had people that may not have had extraordinary abilities, but they've saved humankind from oppression and evil. In my opinion, that list would include: Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, Mother Teresa, as well as countless others.

I think the ability to be a superhero lies in every single heart of a Christian. Romans 13:8 says, "Owe no one anything, except to love each other..." Jesus tells us in Mark 12:30-31 to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Not only is it an amazing ability to possess, but we are called to do it. Love each other. Imagine what an amazing world we would have if we chose to love instead of getting angry, upset, or we overreact to someone!

Superman is from the planet Krypton. His father sent his only son to save humankind from their own destruction. Sound familiar? Whether the creators meant to have such a close comparison to Jesus, it's there. We are much like Superman as Christians. We're alien to the world. Philippians 3:20-21 tells us, "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself." It's the power of our yellow sun that gives Superman the amazing abilities he possesses. How do we love others? We allow the power of Christ to transform us and through Him, we can love others.

Much like most superheroes in comic-dom, we have weaknesses. Our weaknesses are explained in James 1:14, "each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire." We allow our sin to block out the power of the Son, and we start to lose the ability to love!

While we can't save the planet from impending doom from evil mutants, we can love. Love speaks volumes to the people in which it's shown. "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:12-13 [NIV]).
